The study covered 273 miles of road, for 7,520 crashes. If I flipped a coin 7,520 times and it came up heads every time, I would have pretty conclusive evidence that I had a two headed coin.

But experts warn that faster speeds increase the likelihood of such crashes – and their severity – because drivers have less time to make life-or-death decisions as they hurtle down freeways.”

How exactly would that work? How would police enforce that? What exactly would that test look like?  Your sheer arrogance is amazing.

I’m not sure why this article needs to caveat around the fact that this study pretty clearly shows that speed kills. In any other situation, this would be conclusive evidence. In a study of diets, showing that people who ate 75 cheetos a month vs. 70 cheetos a month increased their hospital visits by 17% would lead

I’m sorry you had to replace the motor and be a poor rube.

Most 2004 cars still rolling around are plenty reliable and have all the features you need to get you to work on time. If you put aside $70 a month for possible repairs (which is far less than a car payment), you’ll have plenty in the bank for the occasional $750 major issue. If you don’ t know how to save for a

I think the reality is that there is no “sweet-spot” for financial advantage for buying a new car. Driving an older car and paying for repairs is always going to be a cheaper option. Buying a new car is not something you do because it is financially smart.  It is something you do because you want a new car.  (This

Not really looking for a correction.. more of an FYI for the conspiracy in the comments.

Suspects have been arrested. Apparently Brown shot one of them in a deal gone bad, before he was shot himself.

I am wondering why 12 year olds are playing on an 8 foot basket.  Where I am most kids are up to a regulation basket by 2nd grade (7-8 year old).  Those poor kids gettin’ dunked on also don’t look to be 12.  I’ve got an 11 year old and a 6 year old at home who both play youth leagues and those little kids look a lot

This is the right take. Until all our rooftops are covered in solar panels (that are much easier to engineer since nobody is driving on them), I think solar roads are not needed.  The lowest hanging fruit is often the best one to try for.

So, the road drops as you drive on it... at highway speeds.  Seems totally safe...

Economy of scale is very large in wind turbines, so the most efficient turbines are the giant ones you see out in open spaces. The cost per kW of small distributed turbines in this sort of application would be much higher and not likely worth the installation. (Solar panels, on the other hand, are much more effective

I am curious: What exactly about a playoff system sucks?

My take away from this Gold Cup performance from both teams is that both USA and Mexico are pretty mediocre right now. Mexico is marginally better, but neither team is going to threaten any major world power in the next world cup if they keep up this kind of play.

I don’t think this game is the one that England get’s to complain about dives.  At least Morgan’s dive wasn’t in the box, like White’s.

+2 Diana’s ghost.

Fair enough.  She hasn’t been terrible, but even if you consider all the fouls she draws, I think you have to admit that Rapinoe has been more important to the team.

The principle of offside isn’t that you won the footrace, it is that you got a head start.
