I think there are a lot of reasons they outstripped the El Moussas. First and foremost: both El Moussas have annoying voices. It’s just difficult to watch them. Secondly: their “designs” are really boring. I used to think that Tarek’s budget was holding them back. Then, out of desperation, I watched Christina on the

Oh yeah. You could tell when they got defensive over their church. "It's about loving everyone. GOSH!" Yes, Chipper, and your church doesn't!

refusing to wade directly, explicitly into politics.

No wonder she doesn’t want him dining alone with other women...

Not Joanna Gaines thinking their appeal was because her husband was a maverick.

Ma’am yall are a White Man/Ethnically Ambiguous Woman couple. That’s your appeal. It’s such a tired trope that blogs have been making fun of it for like 10 years. HGTV isn’t exactly known for making us step outside our comfort zone.

Home Town is excellent! I really like the Napiers, and as you say they really clearly come across as more authentic and less like they’re gonna try to forcibly baptize you while your back is turned.

“i think the person who created the song knew what they were doing, that is a very specific hadith. U have to go looking to find it. It’s not something non-muslims know unless they research. So the fact that the song is called Doom & the hadith is about the end of times?

“so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for Black ensemble reality shows to step up and be a part of what we now love so much—reality TV.”

This is pretty much it.

I mean I live in a mostly blue state and don’t see any Biden signs where I live, but then again I live in a county where all the “muh taxes” crowd live and the idiots from Texas move to.. so it’s not really a good indicator of much.

THIS. I don’t understand why more people don’t see this- regardless of who wins (or, maybe, “wins”) there’s going to be riots and bloodshed.

I’ve probalby gotten 3 or 4 letters in the mail over the last few years telling me they will purge my voter registration if I don’t go online and update my registration there. It’s pretty obvious what they’re doing.  I’m in Oklahoma, and I know they’d rather me just sit at home like a good democrat.

I remember that dread I felt on the morning after election night in 2016.
For as much of a shit-show as this year has been so far, repeating that feeling this November is something I’m legit terrified of.

Yeah, sorry, call me cynical but I’m not really buying the theory that her brand is the result of her trauma. She would like for the viewers to come to that conclusion and somehow be redeemed but I know plenty of trauma survivors who don’t end up racist, homophobic fame whores. I’m not saying it had no impact, but I

Her trauma didn’t make her a racist POS. She’s a racist POS that also happened to experience trauma.

They were never on the fence and were always going to vote for Trump. They were simply starting to feel shame again about making their hateful values public, but an opening on the Supreme Court galvanised them.

meh this review is misleading, it quickly veers away from the fame aspect of Paris and delves into not just her own trauma, but others from her school who were also abused. This is a disservice to the survivors in the documentary who become just as central to the film as Paris.
