Electricity is not required to live. My uncle lived without it for years. Electricity is a bonus. On that same note, he used a wood burning stove also, so gas is not required to live either. Gas is a bonus too.

The whole "people used to" argument doesn't hold much weight when you consider that "people used to" have an average lifespan of 30 years also.

I'm really not sure why it takes so long, but I haven't tried it for upwards of a year. I just assume they haven't fixed anything.

If I recall, when I tried to upload mine (way back when) it took a day or two to actually show up. If it takes any longer than that, you may just want to contact support.

I managed to get into Google+, and I've been poking around their security features. It seems to be much more intuitive that Facebook's, especially with the easy access to "View Profile As" and being able to click on each item of information and change who can see them.
