Mazda owned the Flat Rock plant from 1985 to 1992.

Mazda built a new plant at Flat Rock in 1985 where Ford’s old plant used to be (it was closed in 1981). Ford didn’t buy into AutoAlliance until 1992. So Flat Rock would’ve been Mazda’s first plant in the US.
