The trick is to register your car in a California county that doesn’t have emissions testing. Only the urban counties require smog testing. All the rural places require zero inspection.

Too bad they don’t offer theses from the factory with 4x4. I believe navistar offers a medium duty vocational 4x4 truck but it doesn’t look as cool as the ford IMO.

Very true. Ram doesn't build any of their 2500 on up in the U.S. I don't believe. Pretty sure its just the crew cab 1500 that gets build here. They also build all their V8 engines down south as well.

Recently went through this exercise with my dad. He was very disappointed to learn that GM builds the vast majority of their crew cabs in Mexico. Took some doing but eventually found him one of the few crew cabs built in Flint Michigan.

I own a Grand Marquis with a front bench and the middle (in both the front and back) is not a comfy spot. The car just isn’t big enough. However, in a pinch its very useful to be able to carry 6.
