good summary, and I agree that most people don't need it but for all those people who by Z71 Silverados etc would probably like the option, and given how inexpensive it is, I don't see why the factory wouldn't offer it.

Yeah, if in fact the front dif can't handle it, it would be a more expensive option. I got the 300-400 number because that's about what it costs on the rear end, but those axles don't require reinforcement. I'd be curious to see how the IFS has held up to people putting air lockers in their trucks, I'm sure its been…
Just seems like a reasonable 300-400 dollar option to have especially given how many other options these vehicles have. I wounder its because they don't think the IFS is strong enough?
I don't understand, my SUV has front rear and center lockers and they are all on a switch. The front locker works great in parking lots because its not activated. Clearly it wouldn't be a full time locker...
What I've never understood is why GM and Ford don't offer locking front differentials as an option on their 1/2 tons. They already do it on the rear axle why not the front?
It's really annoying that they are still lumping the HD's in with the LD's - especially because you know truecar has the data on a model specific basis. It totally skews the results, certainly not enough to change any absolute rankings, but enough to make you wonder. Very cool chart. Thanks for sharing.
I agree I could care less if my car has hard or soft touch plastics. Just make it easy to clean and durable. In an ideal world my dash would be made out of metal but the government has deemed that too dangerous.
was waiting for the truck to flip over, never did, I am disappointed.
I think I'd go the cheap more capable pickup alternative route. Its a bummer they can got faster than 50 MPH. I'd look into retrofitting one with a truck lift gate.
I better get one before I get a CFO.
I've always wondered what the best place to find cars with blown motors online is.
They haven't gone up in price much. You can still answer that question...
Awesome deuce, I've been thinking of getting one myself. How do you like yours? Where do you get it serviced? Did you get it direct from the military or from another 3rd party?
and I quote:
Couldn't agree more. I especially like the chain step ups dangling down.
read all of them- he said the right vehicle will allow size exemption, as for modification and obscurity, there are a plethora of companies bobbing deuces so there must be a decent amount of demand for them.
I have a 1954 MG TD sitting in my garage in pieces, I think I just found the perfect inspiration to put it back together with some modifications...
I imagine you might still get around to it - from wiki -
true, but as we've seen NATO has operated extensively in the middle east.
