That is correct. Which is probably Sweden has 7 changes to their line-up from their initial game against Chile. They want the “easy” side of the bracket.

We’re gonna allow your British.
With the Japan game, they did. They held Argentina to 73 scoreless minutes until their defense short-circuited. Scotland had their chances.
They gave up a penalty in all 3 of their matches! Like, who are they fooling? And yeah they got some bad decisions like the no-call handball against Japan, but they’re given 90 minutes like everyone else.
Fucking pitiful. They can moan about the ref all they want (Corsie did), but they were up 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Fucking defend! They have no one to blame but themselves, and Shelley Kerr. Ellis-esque game management.
All Scotland had to do was defend for 17 minutes plus stoppage time. They did not.
Man. After the Scotland vs Argentina game, I’m sure more VAR hot takes are coming. But it should be a discussion on refereeing. Woso refereeing leaves A LOT to be desired.
The encroachment thing reminds me of Christen Press’s 100th cap game, where she scored from the spot but the ref (Koroleva) called it off because Crystal Dunn entered the box too early (a Chilean player stepped on her foot).
Her yellow was definitely bullshit. That one was too soft. On the next foul, give a yellow.
Well thanks there’s water all over my shirt now.
Can they even give her a retroactive red for that? Apparently it was the center ref’s first NWSL game, but that doesn’t dismiss the AR’s fuck up. I can’t find the tweet anymore, but you could see how the AR was in perfect position for the call.
I love whenever Lloyd, Press, and Mewis are on the field together. They have this synergy.
Pinoe only scored one goal.
Or maybe they understand it’s a World Cup, not a friendly, and goals should be celebrated. Did you watch the Thailand vs. Sweden match today? They played much better, could actually field their first team keeper, and scored a hell of a goal.
Long was just always chasing things. Never ahead of the play. A step behind. Which, go figure.
I felt she could be like the Keylor Navas (2014 edition) of this tournament. Actually that’s probably a popular opinion? However, I highly doubt she can get Chile out of the group stages unless they put the hurt on Thailand, AND Argentina and Scotland draw, or Scotland barely wins, or Cameroon and New Zealand is a low…
Endler is the best keeper in the tournament. She delivered. Of course, I wanted Press to score, but I can’t hate on that performance. Endler was rightfully the woman of the match.
Even Brian had a better game than Long. Ignore that Moe had a full 90. But still, girl come on. Maybe she was upset she wasn’t out there with her besties? Because we all know *why* she’s on the team (to keep Alex happy).
Me, too. At this point I’m spamming the tweet, but did you see this? All these bros getting angry (it’s deadspin, so you know they’re mostly bros) over this shit and Thailand is just fine. Their game today was pretty good (that goal was class). I bet none these dudes watched.
Thailand had zero problems with it.
