I wonder if that much range is really needed by 99% of drivers? I, for one, would be interested in how much the performance improves by cutting the weight of the battery in half and offering “only” 300 miles of range.

I agree with you 100%. Every “crossover” I’ve driven has barely any more trunk space than a Ford Fusion (and some have even less than a Mustang). And they invariably are joyless to drive.
