Heck, a lot of automatic-transmisison cars do this by themselves now. If you gently brake for more than a second or two, the car assumes you’re on a downgrade and downshifts a gear or two.

There are a lot of things in that Instagram post and the replies to Jalopnik that don’t add up.
The problem is that most people only look at the minimum payment vs. their monthly income and say “I can afford this [thing I don’t need] and only have to make this minimum payment I can just barely afford!”
