A former co-worker of mine killed herself and her mom by driving her car into the river with both of them in it; my understanding based off of things that were discovered later on was that she wanted to kill herself, but thought that her mom wouldn’t be able to deal with that, so she took her out as well.

Was kind of surprised that with a hit like that, the airbags didn’t go off!

I think it (possibly?) has more to do with a lot of people have them as a second car, and as such, they don’t drive them as frequently, hence the chances of an accident in one occuring at a lower mileage vs. something that is dailied and would have the same accident, but at a higher mileage.
