Just advocating a system where, given all the information and being aware that they might become "cancer-ridden", they can choose to opt to take the extra risk. I don't think anyone should be penalized for choosing not to, though.

If you can find a woman willing to have her ovaries, uterus AND breasts removed not because she needs them, not because she has a family history of cancer, but because she wants to do more space flights, we can test your theory.
I just made this same argument on another thread. At first glance, it seems like a fine idea to allow a waiver option, but it would be a dreadful safety practices precedence to set. I shudder to think what the mining industry or the chem manufacturing industry would do with such a gift. We have made so many steps…
If you believe the medical literature, then over time you will see increased cancer among female astronauts. It's like advocating "Cancer for Equality." Perhaps it should be a mark of shame for a female astronaut to not get breast cancer.
That would be ridiculously irresponsible for NASA, or any employer. You set safety standards, and you stick to them.
The idea that they would care about their hair while they're in fucking space advancing humanity as a whole is the kind of talk people use to discredit women astronauts.
I'd wager that NASA level physicists or whatever are harder to come by than people who work in other dangerous as fuck jobs. Don't want the top 1% of smart people dying of preventable stuff. I'd imagine that these restrictions protect NASA's intellectual assets as much as anything else. Naturally, you'd think that…
Yeesh, not sure why the bold font and condescending tone are necessary. Seems to me that kiisseli was offering thoughtful, informed details that related to your question.
In short, yes. Since it seems you need it point-by-point here goes:
I don't have hard knowledge re: every tissue type, but ovaries ARE significantly more susceptible than testes. I've had to take so many lab safety courses, including radiation safety courses, and they always let us know which hazards are potentially teratogenic. Eggs stay in the ovaries for a woman's reproductive…
It doesn't have to be, but it often is. Ignoring that fact doesn't change it.
"On the final day of the Wrap, look a pigeon in the eye. It will tell you of its journey. You will be indescribably moved. Take a selfie."
I don't understand your hatred for a picture someone takes of themselves. A hatred for someone that posts a ton of pictures that look similar is understandable; a hatred for simply the act of taking a picture of yourself is confusing. Especially since you seem to be fine with it if another person takes the picture.…
I don't care what anyone says. I love a good selfie. I love looking at my friends' selfies. I love instagramming selfies where I look awesome. I feel like women are constantly told to live up to beauty standards, but not to actually find ourselves beautiful, and selfie culture cuts right through that bullshit. I see…
What you said. Plus this.
God damn this is a real couple's real wedding? Is everyone they know a model?!
Is it wrong that I want this? I have natural frowny face and I would really like to have at least natural neutral face if not natural smiley face.
They look super cute... but what is that shirt? It looks like he's been stabbed!
HAHAHAAAA! I watched the Crow a few years ago with a now-ex...we both remembered LOVING IT as kids. As adults, it was one of the single most cringe-worthy cinematic disasters I have ever had the discomfort of sitting through. So. Awkward.
Ask an old person. My parents would love that weather station.
