Man, I’ve been rooting for Rivian to succeed ever since I heard about them, but this is a pretty sour note.

This is a bad take. Having imported two cars from Canada (both with 1 VINs and mostly identical to US spec) I can tell you this is not an easy, cheap, or quick process. I could write a paragraph on it but someone here already has so look at their comment.
Good thing level 3 doesn’t exist. Not subscribing to it will save folks a lot of money.
Hi, vehicle importer here!
I know someone in Niagara Falls Ontario that has to take her Mini across the border to Buffalo if she wants warranty service. That works fine when driving, but being a Mini, most of the service it needs is because it is inoperable. Across border tows add yet another dimension.
It’s a digital dash, so almost certainly.
Don’t to forget to fill it with tons of prescription drugs too.
Speaking of syrup...Canada actually has a stockpile equivalent to 4 average years of the WORLD’S maple syrup consumption. That stockpile is kept safe in the event of a few bad seasons decreasing supply and causing prices to surge. If that weren’t crazy enough, there was a heist at the syrup stockpile and someone stole…
Wait a second, this is... actually a great buying tip. Are there other cars like this? Canada, what the hell else have you been hiding from us down here? I like syrup on my pancakes. Are y’all marking that up, too?
Until the competition goes all-in on subscriptions, too. Then we’re all screwed no matter what car we subscribe to.
Sure, but going into a country with a long history of a strong automotive union and expecting to just skirt around it is a bit brazen at the least.
Sell a man a vehicle and you have a customer for day.
As a historically anti-GMer, I think there are a couple of highlights in the lineup. The Cadillac sedans have been pretty good for years, and what they’ve done with the Volt and Bolt shows that they have some innovation left in them. I think that if we’re really serious about maximizing the number of EVs sold instead…
GM said that it wanted to double revenue by 2030, largely through new digital (subscription) services
The 11 foot 8 bridge’s influence is spreading across the globe.
We’re gonna need more butter.
RE Neutral:
1st Gear: This is an excellent example of how stupid American politics have become. Driving an electric vehicle shouldn’t be a political issue. Divesting from fossil fuels to preserve the environment shouldn’t be a political issue.
