So you’re obviously still using 1/4" headphones and devices then right? Why should anything ever have to change?

You don’t remove functionality until you have something better to replace it. Right now they don’t. My iPhone 5 can do bluetooth just fine, and it can do audio out through the jack (with better quality than bluetooth). This new phone can’t. That makes it less functional in terms of playing music than my 3 year old…
Woah. That's a lot of anger and emotion over a phone. How about just...don't buy it?
I’d say driving up stock prices due to increased revenue from licensing lightning technology to 3rd party accessory companies, selling new/better/more expensive 1st party lightning based audio accessories, and new adapters at $20/pop, is a pretty good reason.
You don’t....unless you buy this phone...you act like your being forced to purchase the 7....vote with your wallet the old fashioned way
They said all the new tech inside necessitated the need to remove the headphone port. Why are you assuming they did this for no good reason? This is what some of the highest-end engineers in the world do?
You sound like you’re being forced to purchase an iPhone 7.
Here’s the problem: what is gained by removing the headphone jack? We’re not talking about the headphone jack being replaced by some better option. This isn’t innovation. They already had bluetooth capabilities, and frankly music streamed over bluetooth sounds kind of like garbage. There is literally nothing gained…
I bet you have a USB-floppy drive at home too for added convenience of not having to move over to a new format.
I eat it up because I dont use headphones with wires. I havn’t in close to 4 years. the majority of people buying headphones now-a-days are buying wireless headphones.
Apple isn’t being stupid, they are…
I expected it to last until there was actually a better and more efficient replacement. Floppies made way for CDs. CDs made way for DVDs. The headphone port is making way for awkwardly using bluetooth to stream low quality audio just so Apple can justify trying to strongarm customers into buying $160 earbuds to…
Newer bluetooth services sound perfectly fine, and you said “if I forget”. Maybe you should work on being less forgetful? Do you blame someone when you forget groceries when it comes time to make supper?
Leave the adapter on your headphones or buy a different phone. Clearly this isn’t for you.
I thought it would last until there was a good fucking reason to get rid of it, or a better-quality replacement for it. Those things haven’t happened yet.
Maybe you can use bluetooth?
how is it complex? leave the fucking adaptor on your headphones... use some electrical tape if needed to keep it there and stop your bitching. Its not changing, its the way its going to be. Don’t like it? dont buy the fucking phone
I have dreamed of wireless headphones with no cables for running.
Honestly, I find myself wanting a pair of these, especially when I exercise and find cables of any kind to be a huge annoyance. Since they’re Bluetooth, I hope they work with older iPhones too.
I have a 6 and the answer is still to wait until the 10th anniversary.
You always wait for the S version. Let the early adopters spend money on this new phone that’s essentially a 6S.
No ports. 3 cameras.
