I don’t think you ever can. I know judges who don’t let women attorneys wear pants in “their” courtrooms, even if it’s 20 below.

I figured she’d be in white before I read this because that was the only color of the flag she hadn’t worn so far at the convention (red in her video appearance; blue when she “surprise”-greeted President Obama on stage).
other women that do the most aggressive policing for the patriarchy
Amen!
I started working as an adult before women were allowed to wear pants to work, and I’m only 4 years younger than Hillary. There’s a little part of me left that’s never going to take for grant the freedom to wear pants or flats to work.
That’s the great thing about living in Modern Times: women can wear pants now if they want. *somewhere, a rightwinger faints*
I remember she wore a skirt at her excellent 1995 speech in Beijing (“women’s rights are human rights”)— a pink suit with a skirt! Well, she was still fighting to find her style, any style that wouldn’t get her excoriated. Gawd, that was so long ago, how old does that make me...
I’M HERE I’M HERE
One of my favorite rants too!
Well if you look at it deeply, men are boring in that society says they don’t have to care about looking interesting in any way. Whereas women are almost solely judged on their looks first and then everything else second.
Women’s suits in general aren’t flattering if you don’t have a nipped-in waist. It’s possible that this is the best Hillary can look and we should accept that. It reminds me of when Dustin Hoffman did the makeup trial for Tootsie and said “okay, now make me prettier” and his makeup artists were like “this is as good…
Her gear is pretty boring in my opinion, but she is in a no win situation. If she tries to look super stylish she’ll be accused of being too worried about fashion to be taken seriously. If she tries to look “sexy”/ “young” there will be criticism about that. There’s literally nothing she can wear that won’t garner…
Ugh the word pantsuit is the worst. It’s a suit! Just called a suit! That’s what it is. Men wear suits that include pants every day of their lives and no one ever says it’s a pantsuit. Just call it a suit. /pet peeve rant
Today, in the year of our lord 2016, is the first time I’ve ever actually been excited about squad news. Sorry*, Taylor.
Wintour has already been consulting with her, since the campaign began. I’d say it’s going fairly well.
Are you talking about this one?
Seeing as Anna Wintour is used to only styling 5'11" size 00 15-year-olds, this should be interesting.
I am still literally literally gobsmacked that it never occurred to anyone in the Trump campaign that it would look bad to have Ivanka wearing a non-American-made outfit. Even if/especially it was from her own line.
OK, there is ONE good reason that men don’t receive the fashion scrutiny women do — their clothes, particularly their formal attire options, are BORING! It’s basically suit city and that’s it. Women have a wide array of choices that men don’t, and acknowledging that REALLY isn’t sexist.
I have to admit that I wanted the navy-blue pantsuit she wore for one of the first Democratic debates with Bernie Sanders. Stylish, professional, and she doesn’t need to wear six-inch heels to be feminine.
