I guess you should consider yourself lucky that this didn’t remind you of people you had encountered in your life.

YES! Never leave. I went from a law firm to in-house at a company 2 years ago (modest immediate pay cut but HUGE future pay cut) and I still think about how much better my life is every fucking day.
I don’t think anyone has attacked either of you . . . looks mostly like respectful disagreement based on their own life experiences.
Not sure if you continued reading the thread, but I agree with those who said the manager may have included those details to show how the employee was such a bad, unfortunate person, and the manager was so wonderful for giving her a job.
Someone else may have responded, but there are laws to protect whistleblowers from retaliation.
Oh god I’m sorry. This reminds me of the time I didn’t make it back to the office on time b/c, during my morning off, I found out my dog had a degenerative spinal condition and I had breast cancer. My boss made me stay the afternoon and during that time sent about 10 separate emails to me about upset he was with me, I…
My mom was an ER nurse for 30 years and your story sounds sadly familiar. Apparently RUNNING a hospital requires an absolute lack of empathy and self-awareness.
STORY ALERT: At my last job management fired this guy on his birthday. He was the sole breadwinner in his family and had 5 kids. His birthday was December 24.
It’s strange to me that people react defensively, too. Maybe it is just hard for them to admit they’re wrong. Maybe they are just assholes?
Owen is not making his point very well and being an asshole in the attempt.
Huh. I refer to myself as a “spaz” sometimes. I’m super clumsy and in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy it’s gotten pretty ridiculous (like “hurt myself pouring a bowl of cereal” ridiculous). I knew it probably came from “spastic” but never really thought about spastic as a medical term . . .
Same. This article really twisted a little knife of guilt in me for things I said or laughed at 20 years ago. I don’t remember either of my parents EVER trying to instill any empathy or compassion for others, and they certainly never discouraged me from using words like “retard.” It makes me feel better that there are…
I’m from the midwest and really surprised at your comment. It is really not cool for kids to use “gay” in my experience. I’ve seen teens correct and/or shame each other, which is a huge change from when I was in high school 15 years ago.
Were you 5 years old 22 years ago? I don’t know many (any?) adults who would think it was funny to have a guy whip it out in a conference room, now or 22 years ago.
Could be airbrushing/filter and/or really heavy pigment makeup.
You’re being a bad person right now.
Glad to know if your spouse ever pulls a gun on you an threatens to kill your kids you’ll know exactly how to handle the situation!
I’ve never heard of anyone pump and dump b/c they thought they magically made good fresh milk right away. It’s just to keep your boobs on the same schedule.
Ugh, thank you. That person has posted that like 10 times and gotten a ton of stars and it’s not true!
I wish you’d stop posting this b/c it’s inaccurate.
