Did Erdely or her editors really do anything wrong though? They actually did what the modern feminist movement says is the right thing to do with rape accusations; believe everything an accuser says and don’t question any part of their story.

At least Erdely has recognized the need to retire from public life for a while. The same cannot be said of the blogger who so virulently attacked commenters for pointing out what turned out to be the major flaws in Erdely’s reportage. The mass predation of men upon women is at the heart of so many societal ills, and

I thought Gawker was against third-party funding of efforts to destroy others?

She seems like someone who should have a vegan Youtube channel.

I’ve seen plenty of sites where the majority of men and women are complaining about the dumb jokes (seriously, Jaws and The Exorcist jokes in this day and age) and the stupid CGI (which folks rightfully say looks like rejected work from Eddie Murphy’s Haunted Mandion movie). If all your looking for is angry comments

i mean this non-facetiously- is that a fact? male victims of child abuse are rare, or in the minority or something? i always had impression it was just as likely to happen to boys as it was girls, but totally anecdotal

False rape allegations <<< true rape allegations

That’s not at all true.

Give every girl a copy of The Gift of Fear as soon as she can read.

Yeah. It is so pervasive, even in the adult world. Yet men wonder why we don't accept their drinks or their advances when we are out with our girlfriends. WE ARE FUCKING TERRIFIED OF YOU.

Is anyone else tired of being a member of the female sex? Anyone else tired and depressed and disgusted by these continuous and never-ending stories of men doing inexplicable things to girls/women simply because they can? Is it affecting you to the point that you can't interact with people anymore? Because I am about

I don’t know if this new movie is any good, but whenever I see these pissing contests over it, I’m amazed because it is over a movie I have long thought was mediocre. It’s not like they are remaking Caddyshack or Sixteen Candles.

My very adult nerd-brother: “I’m not disliking it because I’m sexist. I’ve seen the trailers. I think it is a terrible reboot. It looks like a female version of an Adam Sandler movie. They made all of the characters too similar”

I’m skeptical but not because it stars women. It just looks kind of dumb and uninspired. I like the idea of a pseudo sequel but I’m not optimistic about this one. Plus Winston Zedmore’s character in the original had a PhD. In this movie the black actress is a parking lot attendant. Why would they do this?

I don't see this remake as "ruining" my childhood (I was a pretty miserable child to begin with anyway). It does, however, have absolutely no appeal to me whatsoever. Nothing against the cast or Paul Feig, this just looks really...boring, but that's just my take.

My only problem with this movie is that they didn’t make Leslie Jones a scientist too. Whyyyyyy

Never a good sign when all the talk about your movie isn’t actually about your movie.

Interesting to note the tone of comments on this article as opposed to, say, this one

What Anna leaves out is that I already wrote a story that presumed the allegations were true. Last week, I wrote that expulsion would not have been a sufficient punishment for the UVA rapists: http://reason.com/archives/2014/…
