I seem to recall reading that you can save a ton of money on blades by leaving your razor soaking in something like baby oil while not in use, as the thing that dulls blades the most is oxidation.

Most of the "salt" used is calcium chloride and as long as you're not excessive with it and don't live right on a stream, you're doing no real harm.
