The fact that the Old Republic existed is canon, even movie canon. It’s specifically mentioned in AotC, and specifically mentioned as being dissolved over 1,000 years ago.

Except it is canon. What we’ve seen in games isn’t canon, but there have been elements of the history that have been brought into Clone Wars and Rebels.

Yeah. That’s a thing. Ships, weapons, lightsabers, etc are the same in the Galactic Civil War era as they are in the Old Republic era (1,000+ years)

That’s exactly my point though, it’s *not* a tremendous period of stagnation. It took them 8,000 years to go from Stone Age to Medieval Age. That’s pretty close to what it took us.

This exactly. And contrary to what this headline says, I think the Bran scene would have tied everything together nicely.

No. The Long Night came before the Andal invasion.

    Your point?

Nah. You’re applying magic to where we already are, not what impact it would have had on our development.

LOL. You mean the guy that wasn’t cast or credited or even seen in the scene? I assume he’s the stunt double for the bearded kingsguard that we can see in the scene, because he’s definitely not Dayne and there’s only two of them.

And yet, the scale of all of that development looks like *nothing* compared to the last 200 years.

Nailed it. Thanks for digging that up.

Yeah, see, I don’t think so. I think people would be much more likely to think “well how can I keep up with the magic guy hurling fireballs? Fuck it...”

It is the same actor now, it wasn’t before. I think that’s the change you’re thinking of. They replaced him starting in season 6. The current actor is the one they showed in human form.

Not the most accurate of comparisons since in this case they’re cutting from a man to literally the exact same man just in makeup/cgi. The same actor plays both parts.

The same actor is credited for The Door as the last 3 episodes of this season. Granted that’s from IMDB, so, grain of salt and all.

I love that basically all of Old Nan’s tales have been/come true, since you’re led to believe this batshit crazy lady is just spinning nightmare stories. It adds a really interesting wrinkle to the whole history/folklore theme that the series plays with.

Well, if you consider that our last ice age was 10,000 years ago, things were pretty much the same (speaking relative to today) from a technology perspective for 9,000+ of those years.

They’re really not, unless you count the closesness in sound of wight and white walker. They use White Walker exclusively for the magic ice leaders and they use wight exclusively for the undead zombies.

This. It’s not that hard to keep straight...

Maybe I made this up in my head, but I thought they morphed his face into present day Night King?
