Speaking as a former grad student, yeah, that “trip you up” stuff is the best thing they can do for you. Try not to be a jerk about it.

First, the reason your TA was rambling and people were paying extra attention to you could be that no one understood what you are talking about. If your TA was “rambling”, it could be that they were trying to help you out. Conversely, TA’s are supposed to test you and push you. What? Are you going to “smash” your boss…

Thank you for this! I thought the original poster was rude. The TA’s are supposed to trip you up to prepare you for the Real World. Also, don’t mess with TA’s no matter what! They are the ones that grade your assignments.
