I’m white and middle class and worried about the future. But I’d have to be stark raving terrified and out of my mind to vote for a joke like Trump. Trump is for Trump and no one else. Turning this country into a personal piece of property called Trumpland is not making America great again.

The confirmation bias is strong within this group.

Excellent advice, but it’s so hard for me to treat ignorant racist assholes the same way as fuzzy adorable purrbeasts...

“White Americans founded this country,” said South Carolinian Patricia Saunders. “We are being pushed aside because of the President’s administration and the media.”

For fuck’s sake people. I can’t even offer anything besides that because there’s no arguing with these type of people. Literally ANY study, ANY report, ANY info at all that you could try to show them to counteract what they believe and they just dismiss it as being untrue “because”.

I’ve personally found that being white in America is a pretty sweet deal. I’m always puzzled as to how these folks can’t grasp that.

Donald Trump’s demographic:

I'm white and scared...scared of all these trump supporters.

I struggled to get nursing to work for my 1st baby - like just about everyone, I suppose. The crippling guilt that I would ‘ruin’ my baby if I switched to (or supplemented with) formula. I had a very cool granny-ish nurse take my hand and say “you just have to love him, and do your best for BOTH of you...formula

I just wish there were other ways of screening for depression. At my worst, I’m so against getting help for myself that I’ll willingly lie on those things because they make me feel so stupid. When I had PPD I tried so damn hard to tell everyone that I was doing “Just great!”, there’s no way I would’ve circled “No

Or maybe they are depressed because they’re pregnant with a baby they didn’t want to have in the first place and they were forced to because getting an abortion was too freaking hard!

The husband was undoubtedly tired and stressed too—I’m going with this vs. Yates 2.0. Fathers need screening and followups as well.

This is great news. I’ve heard so many complaints regarding new mothers being frustrated that once the baby is out, all the focus is on the baby and not baby AND mother. I felt checked-up on enough when I was in the hospital. The nurses seemed concerned enough about both of us.

If it makes you feel any better my first thought was “finally, an article about maternal health that doesn’t center around breastfeeding”

Where I live you get a mandatory home visit from a nurse within your first week home with your newborn to check on the health of mom and baby, help with breastfeeding and answer any questions. I really appeciated this when I had my kids. Anything like this in the States?

I think this is a great thing to do. In the late nineties, when my daughter was little, I’d go to a twice weekly parent/baby playgroup at the local rec center near my house. There was a pregnant mom there with her son. Very outgoing, very fun, played a lot with her kid. After giving birth to her daughter, she was like

This is so, so needed. Too many horrible incidents have happened because of undiagnosed pre/post-partum depression (of course, Andrea Yates comes to mind immediately).

This is amazing. Also, I love that no matter what else changes, Google is convinced that everyone, everywhere likes turtles.

SMH this is sick. For me, they asked a few questions about why I was doing it to make sure it was what I wanted. They even ask you if you want to see the ultrasound and if not, they turn the volume off and turn the screen around. No pamphlets, flyers or graphic pictures.

completely untrue suggestion that abortion can cause breast cancer.
