Terrell, I thought you were gonna whoop his ass when he started tripping šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

He seemed to think heā€™d be able to dictate the interview, which, sir, wouldā€™ve been propaganda. That because they spoke (cordially) for 4 hours and are (cis) Black men he was owed a fluffy, hazy interview. Like Terrell isnā€™t a journalist and for The Root at that. Like he, Angela and everyone else werenā€™t going to beā€¦

Kinda like the R. Kelly interview.Ā

But snitching is demonstrably a terrible activity that tears communities apart, fosters mistrust and paranoia, and grants greater power to authorities who enforce unjust laws. Thereā€™s a real hypocrisy in exposing criminality in the lower echelons of society while refusing to do anything about the mega-crooks who controā€¦

The whiteness of the avclub reveals itself het again.

All this snitching is basically his attempt to go to a better prison. The kind where he has a better chance of surviving a welcome committee that doesnā€™t like his sexually abusiveĀ history with minors

This guy should have had all his strings tied and contingency stories covered before going into an interview with all this shit swirling in his background. If he denies the allegations, he should have just calmly said that and asked to move on to a new topic. But he couldnā€™t. The last question containedĀ noā€¦

I appreciate that Emily made that obvious in the opening paragraph, but itā€™s still outright contradictory to the articleā€™s title, and thus, clickbait. That said, I know that writers donā€™t always get to write the headline that accompany their article, so maybe this was an error in communication if not clickbait.ā€¦

I mean youā€™re right - you shouldnā€™t smack any of your co-workers on the ass (unless you are in pro sports I guess), but thereā€™s definitely a different historical context that makes it extra terrible when you do this to a black woman.

As an aside, having you reply to one of my comments makes me feel pretty important so thanks for that

ā€œWhile a shy kid in 1988 being unable to verbalize his feelings for another boy makes a certain degree of sense, the fact that the adult Richie is never able to verbally express it about himself feels weird for a movie set in 2016"

Last time I checked, people deal with things in different ways.Ā  Just because 2016 is aā€¦

Im gonna play devils advocate and say the coyness of Richies sexuality in the film is Hollywood still slowing expressing someone exploring their sexuality in mainstream film. Also I dont think Richie was in love with Eddie, more of Eddie was the closest thing to having someone he can possibly love and understand him.ā€¦

Came for it, not disappointed.

Plethora. Too much, eh? (Iā€™m not crazy about myriad, either, as long as weā€™re talking about excessive ways to say ā€œa bunch.ā€)

White LGBTQ men and women, including white people who are gender non-conforming in some way can certainly be racist.

This is missing the point and a little mean. Iā€™m disappointed it got so many stars. This is a person who missed out on formal education for reasons he clearly outlines, using an informal medium to express his raw emotional insights. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with what he wrote.

Maybe choose to focus on the message.

GOOOOOOODBYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, racists being unable to handle the fact that black women can and do cosplay anime/manga characters better than their white faves doesnā€™t have much impact on whether I believe it should be ā€œcontroversialā€ for white people to wear Black Panther merch.
