The “epidemic” of police violence against people of color (particularly African-Americans) is not a recent thing. The word “epidemic” implies a sharp rise in something, but police violence against people of color is an “epidemic” like air is an epidemic.

It was a bad Oscar telecast, and I’m not blaming Rock or the nominations for that entirely. There seemed to be a lot of technical glitches (there were numerous camera shots that were clearly fuck ups or at least raised a “why?” as to their inclusion) and I kept hearing people yelling out things in the background -

I think this has to be it. She may be a sincerely dumb person, but she at least understands that there is no such thing as bad publicity.

Cwick: relax. My comment was made primarily in jest, although I stand by my “the X games are stupid” comment. I’m old. I ski, but have never snowboarded (when we go to Tahoe, my son goes one way, I go the other). I hate kids.

Sports in which children dominate are dumb. Athletic kids have an abnormal strength-to-weight ratio (abnormal for athletes) that disappears when they hit puberty; they are also morons when it comes to risk-aversion. So a 15-year-old flipping around the uneven bars is cool, but in the same way watching Deadpool flip

Rooney Mara is the great-granddaughter of the founders of both the Giants and the Steelers (hence the name).

To say someone looks like a criminal is the worst form of character assassination, but, in all honesty, if you look at Butch Jones’s face, don’t you go “Yeah, that’s a guy who would punish a kid for helping a rape victim.” What a dick.

We see right through you, Luke Plunkett, you troll. Trying to lure Americans down to your Island of Death by showing us the couple of non-lethal animals you keep for luring purposes. They just need us to feed the brown snakes, the red back spiders, and the yellow vermitious knids that rule their island, people! They

No, that wouldn’t have worked at all because that was the time they had to go to the dentist.

I played basketball in HS. We were very good (ranked all year in the top 4 out of 140+ teams in our section).* One of the teams in our league was one of the weakest teams in the entire section; they were so bad that even though they were our natural rivals (same city), our home games with them were our only

Statutory rape is rape. There is no nuance to it. With the exception of fringe outliers like NAMBLA, our society has universally agreed that sexual contact between an adult and a child is morally wrong. To avoid ambiguity, we explicitly define in our public statutes the terms “adult”, “child”, and specify the sexual

“Presumably, the cause of death was a massive heart attack” is either the best shade line or the most cynical in the history of the press release industry.

I am old and white, so I had to look up who was on stage with Kanye. I recognized Kirk Franklin, knew of Kelly Price, and my kids gave me Chance the Rapper. But if I hadn’t already been sitting down, I would have fallen over when I googled it and found out the “white” guy was El DeBarge. El DeBarge! Talk about a

The bill should also require them to sit through a video about living with a shitty little penis. Maybe Hedwig and the Angry Inch?

I’ve never seen him play soccer, but I’m pretty sure this is how Ted Cruz does it.

Say what you will about his narcissism, but it’s obvious Trump Jr. has a great personality. No way that woman married him for his looks.

Two of the likely Republican voters brought this up. The other one, Lisa, said “Not that I want the government to pay anything, but I think somehow the system has to be reworked a little bit. It’s too expensive.” In other words, colleges should just cost less. Problem solved. In fact, everything should just cost less.

Great analysis, Drew. Lost in the Newton-noise this season is his history of being in it for himself (ask Florida and Miss. St. football people). Man is a supremely talented QB, but his selfishness undermines his ultimate value.

Agreed. I’ve watched 49er football my whole life, and in terms of importance to the organization’s passing history, I would put Owens after all three of the guys you mention, and probably after Roger Craig as well.

I’m one of those guys that think “bad” behavior off the field should not count against a player’s HOF-worthiness; on-field behavior should be the sole criterion. But “on-field” extends into the locker room. Owens became a cancer just about everywhere he played. I’m not sure that it entirely off-sets his actual
