Lots of big universities won’t guarantee dorms for more than a year or two. Some won't even let juniors or seniors live in them, period

Universities are not McDonalds; it’s not like they’re all the same so you just go to the closest one. He obviously chose the school with the program that suited him, then his rent went up significantly. He’s in his final year, and it’s perfectly understandable that he wants to finish at UBC.
I did, I asked for self checkout. It’s a lot easier than waiting in line to have to deal with a person doing something that a person does not need to do.
If someone balks at sodium citrate because it’s a “synthetic chemical” but not baking soda (i.e. pure sodium bicarbonate, which is definitely a synthesized chemical) they should definitely reevaluate their biases.
Or you could just buy sodium citrate pure. It’s insanely cheap and just a tiny pinch of it works to make cheese sauce with it for Mac n cheese. Just a splash of water (or drain all but a splash), your fav cheese, and a pinch of sodium citrate.
So I’m now guessing the comment section for The Takeout is generally unhappy 50&60-something’s? Boba tea is just, fun. “Youthful” if you will. It’s a dessert, a social lubricant, a treat. There’s nobody unhappy at your local Chatime, no dour “do you just have black coffee” types. Oh yeah, and it’s fucking delicious.…
A lot of catharsis in these comments for a special kind of dweeb who has been consumed by hatred for that one tea shop in their college town. Boba is fun, y’all are just bitter that the chick who drank it/worked there/recommended it once turned you down.
Nobody said it’s useless. It’s just not really applicable or faster than a general search
My favorite method is to salt, fridge for 24 hours, vac seal, sous vide for an hour at 130 and then freeze. I do a dozen or so at a time. When we are ready to eat a couple, I pull them from the freezer straight onto the smoker frozen at 180. Heat until the center is 100 degrees which is about 40-50 minutes. Then sear.…
Congrats to you, I guess?
To a certain extent, we never should have trusted any image we’ve ever seen, digital or otherwise. There’s a lot of philosophers and art theorists that discuss the subjectivity of photography. I wish I remembered who it was, but they discuss that the mere presence of a camera changes the situation because the subjects…
It’s so harmless. He’s not even asking them to go out of their way to find and fix messed up displays. He’s just asking them to tidy up if they happen to come across one. It’s a bit silly and presumptuous, but who cares? At worst, he’s making life easier for the employees of the stores and giving some kids a feeling…
I can see the utility of these and I’m glad they taste good, but I don’t expect to buy them (except maybe, as noted in the article, for traveling). I have 6-7 bowls of cereal a week and I’m used to whole milk in them, so I’m probably not the intended market here.
I’m a sufferer from what has been diagnosed as Generalize Anxiety Disorder. I am an otherwise high achieving person who experiences bouts of anxiety that are so extreme that I find it difficult to work or concentrate on anything other than how bad I feel in the moment (yes I know, this is the pattern of thought that…
This was, by far, one of the best articles I have read in a long, long time. Just a pleasure to read.
I’ve said it before on this site an I’ll say it again, get the Detroit Style Deep Deep Dish - it’s still not as good as you’ll get in a non-chain, but if you like Detroit style, it’s about the best you can get from one of these places.
That’s giving Elvis too much credit. Seriously.
I’m a better-than-average cook, but man, I cannot be bothered to make my own pesto or salsa or hummus most of the time. Even “easy to make” still involves buying a lot of separate ingredients and doing a lot of prep work (rinsing, chopping, blending, whatever) for something that may well go bad before I can finish it.…
“Retirement is supposed to be your reward for lifelong hard work and spent doing something you enjoy...so here’s 1000 words on why I don’t like the thing you enjoy!”
It can be both! Artifical sweeteners suck, and it’s disappointing that companies ruin their products with them.
