I watched this while doing cardio at the gym today. It was pretty funny seeing Phil going big AND going home (with the right answer), and then realizing that the very capable Becca most likely got the answer right but fucked up the wager via the look on her face pre-reveal.

Phil clearly should've bet more (and answered correctly) on DD2, considering that it was the exact same question as DD1, despite the category.

I've never seen Taskmaster, but anything with Bob Mortimer is worth a look - a naked Bob Mortimer chastising Vic Reeves (as Barry White) for trying to get off with a length of copper piping/sophisticated lady is one of my favorite things ever.

I feel like Erin McGathy should be added to this list. Also Hayes and Sean (whoa whoa).

My favorite podcast line of the past week was courtesy of Pistol Shrimps Radio.

Here's hoping that it's super lo-fi with plenty of mic buzzing all throughout the recording a la classic Mountain Goats.

One of the interesting things going on in podcasts recently is hearing how many different hosts reading the ad copy for this show fuck up Nesteroff's name.

Am I the only one who thought that, when he occasionally adopted a voice for the Cheeba Hawk, it sometimes sounded not unlike Jon Gabrus?

Great call, Laura - especially on the Molina lyrics that can cut right to the core (and for the record, it's "Mama, here comes midnight with the dead moon in its jaws"). Another one that always gets me is:

In Master Ninja II, Crow does a "Hikeeba!" riff during a Timothy Van Patten fight scene, but he does it in that marble-mouthed TVP voice, so it comes out as somsething like "Hi-buh-kee-buh-la!" It never fails to make me laugh.

His short but memorable scene in The English Patient, as a questionably sadistic Nazi officer driven mad by the North African heat, is great. I still find myself aping his "I get no help from these people!" line to this day, anytime I'm met with a non-immediate answer to a question.

No, it's short for "independent kid".

Rafi from The League. He went from low-level, laughable sociopathy ("crap the booze out"/"7 dollars worth of Hoobastank" Raffi) to a psychopath and personification of volcanic id.

Maybe it's because I read Bloom County as a kid, but Trump has always seemed like a ridiculous ass to me. The fact that America made him famous again by liking The Apprentice was a sad enough stain on the country in my eyes, long before the political career.

I guess "every 18 months" is the regular gettin' laid schedule for your average AV Club commenter, so I see your point.

I was going to reply, "It's only 6 episodes?" but then I just checked and the first season was only 8. For some reason, I remembered it as being longer.

@m0nit0rman:disqus turned into Ricky Coogin so gradually I barely even noticed…

I ain't the get pumped or jacked type, just staying in shape. I used to listen to music more, but I learned while I was unemployed for a while that podcasts are a lot easier to get on and off your phone and they're free (I don't do any streaming music services).

I like the people of HDTGM just fine (especially Zouks on CBB), and I gave it a chance about 4 years or so ago, but I wound up thinking the same thing you did: just a lot of "That was soooo dumb!" "I know, right?" talk.

Well, I think they were smart to eventually shut it down as any kind of regular podcast after that ep (not that the last few eps before it hadn't significant gaps in between release), and just keep it as a "special episode" type of thing for when they want to do it.
