You’re not going to win over conservatives who have been trained to hate you. Stop trying.

Conservatives aren’t funny. The comedians conservatives think are funny are...Larry the Cable Guy. Tim Allen. Sentient re-hashes of the same old unfunny shit from the last 50 years, sometimes packaged in a new way but always entirely predictable.

Unrelated but depressing: That Spin cover from 2002 that mentions “R Kelly Teen Sex Scandal”. It only took another 17 years to catch him! *weeps*

I rewatched this recently, and I found it to be pretty enjoyable. There are some things I would have preferred they had not changed from the books, but it’s mostly a faithful adaptation. Susan Sarandon as Marmee was given a larger and more feminist role, which I appreciated. The soundtrack is really great though, very

I feel strongly we should leave this kid alone. She’s got some super sketchy parents, some inappropriate friends (c’mon drake), and is at the age where she feels like an adult but uhhh, no. I really feel like extra PR isn’t helping here. She’s gonna lilo soon, and I really hope I’m wrong.

His father taught him not to regard children until they are old enough to learn the family griftness.

I think he sees Tiffany as Marla’s daughter and Barron as Melania’s son. The only children he seems to really regard as his own are the ones with Ivana.

There’s that great Lindsay Ellis video essay which notes that modern day Nazis have appropriated cultural representation that was intended to be critical of them, such as singing “Tomorrow Belongs to Me” from Cabaret and unironically hero-worshipping Edward Norton in American History X and Hans Landa in Inglourious

Yeah I think I can sign on to this. The actual historical Nazis were a clown-car-load of buffoonish dipshits speeding their tits off on 1930s-medical-grade amphetamines and they weren’t taken seriously until they won power. Being doltish clowns didn’t stop them from building a continent-sized murder machine: it is,

he even puts on the kid gloves with the Nazis, depicting them mostly as incompetent goofballs or neurotic drones—no more detestable, really, than Colonel Klink”

Which is so WEIRD to mull over because my little sister and I were tight growing up, and while we’ve grown apart it’s still the case. Even had to settle a bet with my BIL who firmly believed that I thought of her as the annoying little sister who always got underfoot.

And this is why I think Ivanka is the worst of the bunch:

OMG Me too! i still remember with great fondness the day I figured it all out and felt an enormous amount of weight lifted from me that I wasn’t the crazy one.

I came here to say just that. No matter who is the ‘favorite’ right now, that will change and then change again at the whims of the narcissist in order to keep chaos as the norm.

You should have said something.

Libraries have wi-fi and absolutely love people who come there and stay for hours. At our local library, the librarian told us that the wi-fi is available in the parking lot in case you’re in your pajamas and need some quiet time working in your car-office.  I love librarians.

I hate to disagree with any theory that suggests that a portion of the population is sociopaths...it does explain so much, but I must take exception to your suggestion that they cannot be unaware.

OH MY GOD do those folks get under my skin. Every now and then some jag at my favorite coffee shop decides to have a full-volume business call in a packed, otherwise quiet room, and it boggles my mind how they’re not uncomfortable with their own behavior.

Did a brief stint a few years before you. Was pushed to sell whatever “it” bra was being sold at the time- no matter who came in. Pregnant woman? It bra. Man shopping for his wife? It bra. Woman whose size we didn’t carry? Whatever, squeeze her into whatever it bra we could get her in and tell her it was her size. And
