Keep in mind that attic space is not livable space. The joists are rated for an uninhabited area and will flex a lot more, potentially causing cracks and screw pops on the ceiling drywall below it. Expected live loads are at least 10 pounds less per square foot.

The key thing is testing. This thing needed to be put through some pretty rigorous deepsea dive tests, probably to the point of breaking one of them, before you really know enough about the design to say whether it’s safe.  It sounds like Rush didn’t do that, and over-relied on his own patented monitoring system…
