I’d also recommend ninite.com.  I basically only install third party apps from ninite.com.  When one of my chosen apps starts nagging me that it needs to update, I just run the Ninite installer and it updates everything.

It varies from state to state. I got my license (in California) before you did and I didn’t have to parallel park. My kid just took the test (in Oregon) and didn’t have to parallel park.

Plus Oregon has said they will not be offering discounts to anybody who had to renew recently. If you got a license in January and want the Real ID in July, you get to pay the entire fee all over again. Lucky you.
