We did this and it worked! We only got 2 non-charitable donation gifts. We don’t actually know who all donated to the charities, but we don’t care.

My mother-in-law is an expert thrifter so my husband had a vintage KitchenAid and a vitamix when I met him. I was quite impressed. If you’re willing to check the shops regularly, you can get some great stuff.
Yep. I’m pregnant and my sister wants to throw me a shower. I feel like why should my friends and family have to subsidize my choice to have a baby? I’m a married woman in my 30s with a good-paying job. They can just buy the kid presents after she’s born because watching a kid open a gift is actually fun.
Lucky for me, most of my family is broke so I only got a cool weird antique object from a relative who sort of hoards these things but is amazing at picking out of his stash to give cool gifts. We also put a no gifts-type message with a suggestion for charitable donations as an alternative on the RSVP, which probably…
I’m married and agree. I’m also of the school of presents are mostly just for (a) kids; (b) younger broke people in your family and (c) thoughtful things for grandparents or other old relatives. Basically presents for people aged 30-55 are whatever.
For my wedding reception (we got married at city call with just parents), we put something on our RSVP site along the lines of “we are lucky to have everything we need. If you would like to get us a gift, please consider a donation to one of these charities.” And put 3 charities. I think only 2 people got us gifts.
I think some call him “Book.” Not that cool of a nickname, tho.
I do not understand the grays thing. The disclaimer makes it seem like it’s to keep away trolls, but you can comment like a normal person forever and still stay grayed. I also see trollish comments from non-grays sometimes. Kinja is a drag.
If you can even find your baby an open spot at a daycare that soon. I’m a white collar worker that got on waitlists 11 months in advance and I’m still not gonna get off any waiting lists before my 12 weeks of FMLA is up. And I can afford whichever daycare. I don’t know what people with fewer options do.
Then I don’t want to pay for those assholes’ boner pills and aging prostates anymore.
Wow, with that kind of logic and spin, maybe his next job should be in the Trump administration.
He didn’t actually get sentenced and serve it. He was released because of undue delay being tried.
He didn’t serve his sentence. He could still end up back in prison. He only got released because the prosecutor took too long.
I often find Draymond frustrating, but this is one time I would hope he’d run his mouth or have an errant leg.
I legit think Trump won’t invite the Cavs and probably also not the Spurs, although he said good things about Pop in the past. Spurs players are less vocally political than LeBron but I just don’t see them wanting to give Trump a photo op.
Unfortunately, as a person living in Texas, plenty of people will raise hell about it, even if they thought he could play. I don’t think Texans fans skew as racist as Cowboys fans, so maybe it would work.
He can’t even get close over that gut.
When granny loses her Meals on Wheels and they start dying of uncontrolled heart disease because whatever insurance they can get doesn’t cover anything, maayyyybe they’ll start seeing through it? Nah. They’ll just blame Obama or poor black people.
The thing I scream into a pillow every morning.
Peter Holt, owner of the Spurs, was also a big Trump supporter but seems cool with Pop saying what he wants since Pop is thought of as a basketball treasure=recruiting.
