@OrfeoHapidooya: I don't get your freeway analogy... exit ramps? It's more like setting the cruise at a lower speed, then when you need to speed up to pass you get on the gas a little more/vs setting the cruise as fast as you can the entire time. Faster gets you there sooner, but is more economical to go slow (set

@Bennie B: Just as reason #8 in the article says, BMI, as endorsed by the CDC and other health "authorities", is used by life insurance companies when determining premiums. My whole life I have never had to even calculate my BMI until last year when I took a term insurance policy - in my case BMI is simply recorded

@NovaGauzer: and hopefully you don't have one of those familiar looking faces!

@Gweedle: this, unfortunately for me, sounds like some of my cheapskate friends when they eat out. These are normally good people, but when dining out they are just waiting for a bad experience or for the server to screw up so they can demand a free meal.

@saintseminole: Yeah I haven't ever used that tray once, haven't had a need or urge to. Even the grip's manual states that it is not advisable to use it except in emergency backup situations. Just thought I'd mention it since we were on the subject of AA batteries.

@jetRink: exactly, it's a lose-lose situation: either she gets offended and you get no sex for the rest of the month or else she appreciated getting payed so much she demands to be payed for everything.

@four12: agreed, I'd rather have the convenience of a nice bright LCD, and full use of all the features the camera offers without having to worry about battery consumption. If you prepare and have several (charged) backup batteries you never have to worry about micromanaging all these little details. If you plan to

@Mike Cerm: some optional battery grips (like Canon ones) for DSLR come with a tray to hold AA batteries as well as the rechargable lithium ones... but unless you are carrying around a trunk full of gear the AA battery tray seems cumbersome to carry around as it is pretty delicate.

@Michael Bauser: that's his point, relying on another photographers flash to be synced with your frame requires either an extreme amount of luck or else an extreme number of frames. This feat would be possible using the amateur method on a Digital camera, but I shudder at the thought of trying it with film (unless

@uscdb: Pushups do more then build your pectoral strength. You also use your core muscles, which is why good form is a crucial part of the exercise, plus you build strength in your triceps and shoulders. you can also vary your form to use slightly different muscles more/less. I agree that for those who can commit

@CIM: disagree, depending on your fitness goals, doing 100 pushups MAY be a waste of time, but this is designed to help people become capable of achieving 100 pushups. It is not the most efficient way to burn calories, lose weight, build muscle, achieve target heart rate zone etc. but for those its intended to be

@Derek Lockovich: thanks for the recommendation - I checked it out and decided to make it a personal fitness goal.

@ssj4Gogeta: Thanks for the qualitative answer, I've been reluctant (actually just don't have much free time for tinkering lately) to try Win 7, so knowing that it does in fact offer better performance over XP makes all the difference - the article and what little I've read about windows 7 didn't really show me this

@Nigromancer: but I have seen no quantifiable evidence that Win 7 will run faster on an older machine than XP (though better than Vista), so you and others are making a false inference. As for your other suggestions that the point of newer OS is about expanding capabilities and handling future demands I agree with

@bengarland: I'm sure if the farmer didn't want to sell it for whatever price, he wouldn't. In fact buying the cheap stuff at the end of the day helps the farmer too... why let it go to waste or incur the time and expense of transporting it when he can mitigate his loss? win-win.

@Dr.Jeckyl: I've used the film canister trick and it softened the flash by a noticeable amount. but then it fell off and I lost it, and haven't been bothered enough to cut me a new one.

better than XP? if not what's the purpose of upgrading the OS if it downgrades usability?

@jupiterthunder: urgh, your story reminds me of my fender bender story (which I need not go on about, for my own sanity)
