so basically for the vast majority of veggies I want to keep them refrigerated in a perforated plastic bag?!

@kev: my cable provider tried to set me up on something similar, however I've found the free trial of their high speed unreliable and with the amount my family depends on the phone voip doesn't meet our not-unrealistic quality requirements...

@UnderLoK: I know its insane, my wife is a chatterbox, but on the other hand its really quite easy to spend that much time on the phone when we both work from home and our family members are spread across the country... What's really crazy is how much cell companies charge just for text messaging.

@Koztah: Well basic landline here costs $22 (CDN), plus I have a second dedicated line for work (another $22) and of course call and name display ($8), plus unlimited long distance in N.America ($8) and of course a couple bucks for 911 and GST/PST ($11). And my telco is also my high-speed ISP ($45)...

@gerrrg: pfft, ever heard of ham radio?

@Tyrun101: and conversely, if you have a landline, having a mobile could be seen as just more to keep track of. Plus its much easier to lose a cell phone.

No cell for me (am I really only one of seven so far?) I have yet to come across a cellular contract that doesn't border on extortion. And landline only is cheeeeeap!

@Bill Clark: then use something other than cardboard (lexan, aluminum sheet, plastic, wood etc.)

@conigs: "What kind of "prohibited home-based work" do you see people doing?

@ImTheGarbageman: If it's hot and dry there are also evaporative solutions such as misters and swamp fans.

@okthere: I usually make my drip coffee very strong, and anything left in the pot after my morning cup cools for 20 minutes then goes in the fridge. After its refrigerated I add a bunch of crushed ice, some nestle quik and cream and blend it with a hand blender to get a good cold mocha slushie.

@UnderLoK: am I missing the reference here? What kind of frappé's are you thinking of? Obviously not the iced-coffee variety?

Just a note to those wanting to work on the side: I am considering setting up a large area in my basement for a portrait studio and location to base my photography business. But as I just found out this kind of home business is specifically prohibited by my city. I can't believe the amount of restrictions some

@kris259: just a warning about your water temperature, unless you keep it hot enough it may be a breeding ground for bacteria, specifically Legionella (which thrives in water temps of 55ºF - 133ºF).

@fritzk3: Or instead of an XTi, look at rebel XS - same camera but with SD card instead of CF, 7 point AF instead of 9 point, kit includes the IS lens, plus you get unlimited burst speed in JPG (though less in RAW, you also get Digic III processor and live view. And mainly, you can probably find an new rebel XS kit

@aerick79: Agreed, and its much better than the "Permanent Daylight Savings Time" that many in my province want to see. In SK we don't have DST and its awesome, but many who were born here think they are missing out on the fun of having to mess with your clock twice a year (and all the hassle that goes along with it).

@Troy F.: and heck why not add a facebook gadget so you can share all that info with 863 of your closest friends and family.

Nice tool to help those of us with color deficiencies to not have to guess as much.

@Navin R Johnson: Me too, I have piles and piles of crap I've already sorted (on multiple occasions) that I want to get rid of - I'm either too cheap to just throw it out, too lazy to take it somewhere for donation, and too busy to advertise it.

@LegoAddict: yeah I never said they were perfect, but let me know if you find a different bank that doesn't put a hold on your deposits. But for me PCF does release up to my daily ATM withdrawal limit on new deposits - in fact this was one of the main reasons switched my main account from TD. I think when it comes
