Ok, gonna try to get to all of these. :P I really want ducks, just need to get their housing set up. They are honestly better than chickens in a lot of ways, including flavor and friendliness. I haven't tried the broodies with any other eggs, my only concerns would be different humidity and temperature requirements.

I try to raise all of my own meat and most of my fruits and vegetables. Chickens are a big part of making that happen, so yeah, they are awesome. :)

Chickens can be totally terrifying. The only reason broody hens don't kill their chicks is because the sound of them cheeping inside their eggs triggers a hormonal change that turns aggression into protectiveness. Notice the death glare she is giving the camera and how puffed up she is in the other picture.

With that

Not all, and actually 4/5 of her babies don't seem to have any Cochin (her breed) in them. But! They are by far my best broodies and uniformly awesome mothers.

Oh, and here's a baby riding around on its momma.

Someone asked me to post an update a few weeks ago, so...

I seem to recall that only Arya and Jon really look Starkish.

I had had them since I was able to grow hair. I tried growing them out once when I was 12, but being super awkward with a, um, very helpful mother, I had no idea how to style them. I ended up with what can optimistically be described as "half-bangs." As in, one side scraped back with product and the other side hanging

I finally bit the bullet and grew mine out. It took almost a year of excruciating awkwardness, but now I'm glad I did.

I'll leave it to someone less tired to address this more fully, but I think you need to consider the difference between a misogynist setting and a misogynist story.

Also, I don't remember any "loving" rape scenes, or even that many actual rapes shown in the books or the tv series. Those that are depicted are pretty

I need you in my life so we can obsessively discuss things together, instead of both feeling a little crazy as we talk to ourselves.

I was born in the early '90s and remember being blown away by Star Wars when I first saw it. Granted, it was the earliest version Lucas monkeyed around with, but I think kids can still find plenty to love there.

Don't feel like a dork- my chickens make my day every time I take a moment to watch them. :) She is a Golden-Laced Cochin, bought specifically because they like to go broody.

It makes me imagine Cersei in a giant skirt, sitting on Joffrey, Tommen, and Myrcella and then getting very angry every time someone gets too close. And then I giggle a little.

Ahhh, Silkies. I love them. I had a few of the silly wee things, but some of my bigger hens proved to be bullies. They ended up going with a nice man who has a whole flock of them.

Ooh, what kind of ducks do you have? I almost caved this year and bought some, but then I realized I have no housing for them (yet). Le sigh.

I think it's great that you are volunteering and that the kids are learning something so fun! I never even got to do the "carry an egg around like it's your baby" thing in school.

I think I'll save the dragon names for when I get goats.

If these eggs hatch, I intend to save a rooster. So, maybe he will be a Tywin? It all depends on whether or not his stare is ruthless enough.

She's a standard-sized Cochin; I love their floofiness. Good luck to your sister!

No Tywins, sadly, because none of my golden birds are roosters. :P This big guy is Robert, the broody lady is Cersei, and her fellow ladies are Myrcella, Joanna, Lanna, etc. I also have two doe rabbits named Sansa and Margaery, because I am a sad geek farmer.
