“You too can be a millionaire! It’s easy! First, get a million dollars...”
I think it’s worth considering that a 100% markup on paint and supplies is not robbery. As an alternative you could consider what I think is a typical homeowner painting project (at least typical for many I know):
I think it all depends on the job at hand. My wife and I bought our house a few years ago and wanted one of the bedrooms painted. It had had a glorious pink flower wallpaper since construction in 1956. We had 5 or 6 contractors come out to give estimates and an idea of the work they did.
Just further makes my case that we should simply observe daylight saving time year-round. Sun before 6:30 is a waste but I love having enough light to do things outside until 9:30pm in the summer. I’d prefer having at least a little afternoon sunlight in the winter time too. I’m not going to get up at 5 am to work in…
As someone who determines who gets raises and in what amount, I can tell you why talking about salary can be bad. Say you discuss your salary with a coworker. You make 20% more than them and do the same job. I give raises to my highest performers, ones that do things without being asked, have stellar attendance. Now…
This completely. We went there on a whim almost 20 years ago (ah, life before kids) and I still remember those rock formations. Bryce is so alien, simply because there’s not the familiarity like with the Grand Canyon. I am hoping to take my kids there in 2017.
“Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York, NY to see the infamous Manhattan skyline.
We must marry. This is PERFECT.
This is a trend in all major US cities right now.
*cries* Why do people forget Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and some of the Jersey cities (Hoboken, Newark)? If you live in Brooklyn- in Bed Stuy, my home neighborhood- you are renting a 2 bed place for $3k. But in the Bronx- Woodlawn- you are renting the same place for $1150.
I feel ya. My rule of thumb is I will provide food and a keg (2 if I need it) and I’ll have one "signature" drink. At my St. Paddys day party, that was just mimosa's. I open it up for everyone to bring stuff and have an extra cooler. Usually everyone brings something and we end up with a ton of stuff and leftovers…
I am originally from the Midwest and have moved a lot, but spent a year in Stamford and was frequently gobsmacked by the wealth and just the overall cost of living, in particular real estate and rental prices. I actually used to tell my coworkers stories about the non-big city Midwest like, “When I lived in Iowa, I…
A lot of thieves won’t bother attempting to steal a manual car if they don’t know how to actually drive it. Why would they bother breaking in and attempting to drive a manual when they could walk a block further and find another car with an automatic transmission?
In this day and age, a thief would be lucky to know how to drive a manual and get away with a burnt clutch. More likely scenario is abandonment after 3-4 consecutive stalls.
Well, if they have no clue how to actually operate a manual transmission, good luck with them actually getting anywhere. Most people now days have no clue about how to properly release the clutch and give it gas at the same time to even start moving without stalling out.
I intended to post that exact thing, and add the comment that my own kitchen experiements matched the results of America’s Test Kitchen. (I did experiments before this segment was first televised and was really happy to see my results matched.)
Not having any.
That price wouldn’t even get you a studio in a non-doorman building in Manhattan, bwahahaaa. My small (1200 sq ft) single family home in the suburbs of NYC (in the CT direction,) was over double the $250k estimate, (and bought over 10 years ago.) The median single family home value in my town is $1,012,700, and even…
