Golf's not a sport, it's a drinking game.
Golf is a blast. You can play with anyone regardless of ability.
I would recommend adding bowling to this list. It is suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels, and the league I am in uses handicapped scoring which makes it very friendly to beginners. If you like it you can get fitted for your own ball and learn to bowl with a hook which adds a surprising amount of depth…
I am actually in back to back wedding parties in June this year. Friday night I have to buy a grey suit. Saturday I have to buy their black suit. FML.
As a tuxedo owner (I’m a wealthy plastics magnate, you see, and wear a tuxedo every day) I have offered to use my own tux, but they all must match cried the soon to be betrothed. And thusly I spend the night with my undercarriage precipitation mixing with that of groomsmen gone by.
Shouldn't something like "Ditch your car and start using mass transit" be part of the suggestions?
We purchased our home in New England last August and immediately had a gas line run from the street to the house and converted from oil to gas. Removed the oil tank, old boiler and hot water heater and replaced with a brand new 93% efficient Viessmann Vitodens 222-F unit that takes up very little space, heats the…
My wife and I replaced our original 1955 oil furnace with a natural gas 98% efficient furnace 2 years ago and it's fantastic. We were in the same situation as you, paying way too much for fuel oil and had a natural gas line into our home (water heater). Total cost for the project was around $6000 and that included…

But for those who have shrugged off this advice in favor of helping out a friend or member of your family, tell us about it. What boundaries did you set? Do you regret your decision? And, finally, what advice do you have for people in either situation?
Never lend. Make it a gift. I know some say "never lend money you can't afford to lose", but I think that is taking a middle road that hurts the relationship as you're still pretending it is a loan.
There is a master/servant relationship between the lender and borrower, and it is unavoidable. Regardless of your…
