I believe the issue is in the cynical use of MCU-like photorealistic visuals and team makeup to appeal to casuals while also making reference to deep cut comic lore to appeal to diehards. In trying to make money off everyone, the end result is off-putting.

I get what you’re saying. I’ve always said his songs are like Rorschach tests. Rarely do two people get the same things out of them. The thing is a lot of the classics are just boring. Moby Dick is a hard read and it’s also boring. I read it just to see what the fuss was about and I did not find it worthwhile in any way.
