I thought I saw the rear wheels spinning for a moment in one of the frames, could be wrong though. Is the Escape AWD system essentially FWD with rear wheel assist, like the Rav4/CRV, or is it a full-time system?

Sedan, yes. Hatch/wagon, disagree.

Wrong color, but I forgive you because your heart was in the right place.

Can you explain your math? I'm getting the difference in aerodynamic drag between 265mph and 270mph is roughly 70-80hp, depending on frontal area and air density. Even taking drivetrain loss into account, your numbers seem........excessive.

It's skeptical because you can't provide any alternate sources of information other than your say-so, and as much as I like you and your commentary here, it's far from sufficient as a 'proof'.

The full car should make its debut soon at the Geneva Motor Show, but the world seems to think it will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four with something like 220 to 250 horsepower, proper Quattro all-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual.

That is a fantastic shade of blue. Any idea what the specific name of the color is?

I would agree with you on the looks, but I thought the 4C sounded awful during some of the scenes. Very buzzy.

You're still being forced to give money to someone to have them represent you even if you want nothing to do with them, something I would have significant issues with if it affected me. Yes, generally the 'fair' (a term I use very loosely) share dues are slightly less than the full membership dues, but it's still not

Oops, sorry about that. Kind of hard to tell though.

Even if you're not a union member, you CAN be required to pay union dues. So I would argue what Planels said is true functionally, if not technically. I believe they can fire you for failure to pay, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

That seems counter-intuitive to me, for a couple reasons:

The blue just doesn't look right on the previous generation hatches, IMO. Something about the rear lights just seemed off to me.

I think you're unfairly assigning blame here. The sensationalism didn't come from IIHS or CR, it came from the news organizations 'reporting' on IIHS's results (i.e. TIME). CR & IIHS simply stated that most small cars did poorly on the new test (big surprise there), and that on average, they did the worst of any class

From what I've been told by owners I know, it's when VW's are out of warranty that the issues start appearing.

Their job is to summarize and spoon-feed information about automobiles to the greater population that doesn't otherwise view cars as anything other than an appliance. Their priorities and values may not exactly line up with yours, but I hardly find that as justification for abolishment.

So you're saying that if we slap a pair of new tires on a early 90's/late 80's car and a new car of similar type (lets go with modern Fusion and first gen Taurus for comparison), they should be able to handle similarly?
