If her name ends in a SKI and uses that as an alibi... probably the same person...

Or, ya know, take it to ANY local shelter where the pup could at least be cared for to some degree instead of being left to starve and die while alone and scared in an environment it does not understand.

I keep thinking about checking in on her, hoping that she’s on a better path, but it wouldn’t be fair to her if I tapped right back out if she’s still drinking and popping pills.

*Dates a guy who rescues her cat

Me too. Saw stole, read “rescued from an animal abuser"

Holy shit!

I had a friend like that from freshman year of college till I was about 31. Years and years of her problems, her calling me for hours and hours every damn night- brushing her teeth, peeing, whatever, on the damn phone because she couldn’t bear to be alone. She would talk and talk about the same things over and over,

Yeah. Saw the part where she says an ex stole her cat...sorta had me wonder if the ex was just a good person who felt the cat was not getting good care in that home.

This.

I had to end a “best friend” friendship when I realized that she was popping xanax after drinking a couple of glasses of wine and DROVE HOME, WITH HER KID. We had met up with our kids at the bowling alley, and I had offered to pay. I admit that I looked past her issues with xanax, but I didn’t realize she was drinking

abandoning her dog in a field because it was “annoying” then fishing for sympathy,” - ummm, nope. I’d be out. Peace. Goodbye. Friend breakups are hard, but befriending a sociopath is harder.

abandoning her dog in a field because it was “annoying” then fishing for sympathy,

I know this all too well. My best friend, for the last 34 years is exactly the person you described. High school was so much fun, but then, “It” started around college, when it was me just rolling my eyes at some of the guys she would date, or the fact she was going to parties on random days during the week and

This. Loyalty doesn’t mean not challenging dumb or destructive things you do or want to do.
Anyone who would dump a dog in a field would, I sense, metaphorically dump their friend in a field as well.

I have dumped a couple toxic friends after years of VERY cautiously treading around their behavior / actions against me / inconsiderations / anger etc.

You could have stopped at “abandoned her dog in a field because it was annoying”, anyone that does that has serious psychological issues and needs to seek professional therapy and likely medication. That’s such a far cry from can’t handle a pet and surrendering to a shelter which is almost as shitty, but I wouldn’t

I didn’t move to Michigan last year because of Gov Whitmer, but she sure did make the decision a lot easier. More badass women in government, please!

It’s expensive as heck here, and the winters can be brutal, but the politics is the reason I’m still here. If I lived in a deep red state, I’d probably be in jail now, having popped off on somebody. I’m very proud and happy to be represented by Duckworth and Durbin. (Side note: That sounds like a great name for a law

She is my senator and I voted for her - but the joke was so spot on it never dawned on me that the quip referred to her own legs.
