This is such a weird topic for me to read about... I’m currently in nursing school, and considering this area as a specialty.

That comment reminded me of when GOOPy complained about living in the United States.

Oy. Yeah, somewhere between her and Ina May Gaskin lies delightful balance.

Agreed. She was a member of a pro-science moms group I’m in on Facebook, and she was so divisive and obnoxious, even in a group which is totally on #teamscience, that she was kicked out.

Thank you. Dr. Amy makes it impossible to be on her side when you believe women should have the power to choose their own birth and she thinks you’re an addle-brained idiot incapable of critical thought let alone actual research and whose personally selected medical professional (a midwife) is a quack who ought to be

She seems to just completely lack nuance or a sense of the very recent history of obstetrics (twilight sleep was the norm until well into the 70s—it was not that long ago that we were literally drugging women, often against their will, into compliance during birth). She throws basic respect for women’s autonomy out

Tuteur is basically crazy. She doesn’t think parents should have the ability to make any informed decisions if they conflict with what she thinks is the correct decision.

When I read “Speaking of feminism, Piers Morgan thinks Kim Kardashian is “killing” it” I thought he meant that she was really good at it. Wasn’t that how kids were using “killing it” now? In a good way? So confused!

no, they loved it. people love shamed women. even if it was just to goss and gawk and judge or cringe or feign sympathy, it was an attraction. the fact that she’s gone beyond what have should have been a bad thing for her MAKES. PEOPLE. FURIOUS. that she shows off her body on her terms MAKES. PEOPLE. FURIOUS- WE

Just give a glance back at this thread the next time you check Jez. I’m sure none of any of these people meant anything other than she is often photographed naked and there is absolutely nothing wrong with her doing so and making money from it. They APPLAUD her even.

In which case: the “change jobs” advice amounts to “have a kid after you have tenure,” which is what plenty of people say anyway, which often for women means waiting until you’re 40, an age at which having a child is a much less certain and far riskier prospect — which really means “don’t have a kid if you want to be

And the whole point of this article is getting tenure, which generally takes anywhere from 4-7 years to do. A tenure-track professor is in no position to up and change positions. Even outside of this specific instance, this is an unworkable plan, but if Ladyology wants to try it out, good luck to her.

Hang on a sec. I know plenty of men and women in my workplace who talk about their kids, and are quite professional. It doesn’t mean you talk about them non-stop, but you don’t pretend you don’t have kids. There is a middle ground here.

There are reproductive psychiatrists that specialize in this issue that could walk you through your options, should you decide you wanted children.

I beg to differ on the plastic panels part. Plastic panels didn’t take off in the USA (and still has not), but the rest of the world could not get enough. Kei cars, smarts, even Citroëns have plastic panels. In city environments, plastic panels mean the difference between buffing out a scratch and pulling a

Maybe I’m crazy, but I think the Audis of those years were the best looking Audis of all time. VAG had a whole round phase going on and Audis did it best.

Eldritch didn’t attack you. She was blunt, and now that I understand your mental state, I can see why you reacted poorly to bluntness. Still, you attacked her. You were aggressive to her. I and others were reacting to that.
