He’s whiny as hell in his other scenes too. The laughing scene is just the one people remember.

I mean, I also think that Tidus gets a bad rap and for the most part is on par with most of the rest of the cast, but it’s definitely not just one scene. Mike even linked a different scene (not the laughing scene) up above as an example and it is bad.

I get the frustration with these lazy tropes, but I try not to let it stifle my discovery of truly genuine good anime out there. I’ll admit though, it takes time to do this, and time is a resource that’s decreasing for me lately.
