I think that is sort of the point of ray and his sad eyed wife though, to be seen as people who are acting, people who aren't totally invested in what they are saying…

Pretty sure that was a transsexual person.

Rewatch season 1, it's mostly pretty reduculous, but it has a good heart.

That's a great darth vader story.

'sadness' doens't quite cover it.
Complete Desolation.
Soul crushing hatred of all things human.

I invite you to think back on what the mujadeen guy said though- the reason we aren't seeing the crazy assed shit the americans were doing is because this show isn't set in any of the numerous proxy battlegrounds we were fighting in at the time.

he was there for himself; his 'disguise' was an artfully shot nametag.

no way these writers do it. This whole show is working on Dostoevsky levels of family/church/state /truth/ good/evil etc… that there is a conflict between state (either USA or USSR) and you know, greater truth (church or EST) is what this show is about. Pastor Tim ain't goin anywhere.

if he's joining the family business it's going to be Under Uncle Stan's wing.

the first final half season was more about licking donky hole, so it's improving?

"Beeman & the Bear" was tossed out as a good name for this series a few weeks ago in this very forum by someone more clever than I.

While i don't disagree with you about the 1983 USSR making the world worse, I think it should also be brought up that 1983 USA did some disgusting shit all over the world as well.

BEEMAN & THE BEAR!!!!

i didnt notice it for years!

also: holmes and houses are both things you live in.

also Fish, for whatever reason, left a big impression on me.

yowza, this is amazing stuff written beautifully.

The Wire's Lester Freeman is a great ideal of a man of a certain age:
