Personally, if you are avoiding voting to avoid jury duty then I have no sympathy for you. Both are our duties as citizens and shouldn’t be taken lightly. If you only want to participate in the stuff that interests you then don’t get upset with the results.
Ellis is pretty good and I’m subscribed but she really needs to tighten her videos up because they do tend to belabor the point.
now that’s a quality comment right here folks.
“...and its bleakness is (somewhat) offset by its seriously gorgeous animation.” Now, listen, I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all, but c’mon... this thing is like the textbook definition of an up-its-own-rear art student film, and the animation is so distractingly bad that I had to force myself…
Oh boy, and the “how dare you stereotype us as shitty while we angrily attack devs for including women in a videogame” crowd are already out in fucking force to stan for the idea that “Gamers” are unfairly stereotyped.
I swear to god if this shooting turns out to be gaming related I’m probably fucking done with whatever little respect I had left for “Gamers”.
Does this site also vet the charities? I feel like I really need to research a charity before I donate money. How much do they spend on overhead? Do they turn around and donate my donation to another charity. Do they hire professional fundraisers or use volunteers?
One speakers mentions the internet making a difference because it exposed them to others’ experiences. As I’ve said elsewhere:
Everybody knows.
Sexual orientation is different from gender. Sexual orientation is about who you are attracted to; gender is about who you are. There can be bisexual men and bisexual women, but there can also be bisexual non-binary people. It helps me to think of it all being on a spectrum.
Agreed. Articles/videos that aren’t shared to sister sites will still have more than a few noisy idiots, but the comment section here (particular the grays) is absolutely not indicative of how Lifehacker commentors typically feel.
I need a crash course on... everything. I want to learn but it feels like every year there’s a few new terms.
Let me guess, you’ve never had to announce that you are straight and cisgender and therefore everyone who has to announce that they are not one or the other (or both) is just crying out for attention?
Wow. These comments are super gross, ignorant, and rude. I’m just going to inject some positivity here and say that:
I also think it’s do to this mythological concept of being punished for not getting someones identity right. Like the meme “did you just assume my gender?” is commonly used as if it’s common. But just like most people when you get their name wrong, non-binary/trans/etc people are understanding and aren’t going to…
It’s really sad. People identifying as non-binary or trans-masc or trans-fem or agender really hurts noone. And for the people who say they won’t be able to remember pronouns etc... Well, if you can memorize an entire sportsball team roster, you can remember someone’s pronouns.
Again, I get what you’re saying, and the fact that you’re not judging people by how they identify is awesome. But at the same time, dismissing it as unimportant is kind of hurtful as well. People’s identity is important to them, and saying that you don’t give a shit about it is hurtful, whether you think it should be…
I think I understand what you’re trying to say, however the idea that something important to someone else isn’t important to you isn’t being supportive, it’s being dismissive. It’s sort of like saying “I don’t give a shit about what your name is, I’m going to call everyone Steve from now on.”. Sure, it makes life…
Yikes, I didn’t expect all the comments to be such a cesspool of misinformation and hate.
