The best horror is when the characters (at least, the majority) do everything by-the-book, reasonably and calmly, the way the viewer would, and still end up screwed, because what they're facing can't be defeated or avoided through simple human reason. In fact, that might be the definition of Lovecraftian horror.

Always good to see neat little hacks like this. That said, if I'm wearing a shirt informal enough to show my bra straps, I'm probably also going into a situation where I don't care who sees them. Is this widely considered uncouth and I missed the memo?

I got all excited because I thought he was going to try to read the comments on an article and follow a conversation thread, and then see how hair-grippingly impossible it is even when sober. But he never even went to an article as far as I can see, and doesn't mention it in his report.

It sounds like you've found a method that works for you, and that's great! But next time, please reconsider your strident tone (ordering others around, ALL CAPS, etc.). Let's keep these threads light-hearted!

What is up with California having the same town names as Canada? There's also Ontario, CA; Toronto, CA; Vancouver, CA;... Don't they realize people will get confused?

The fact that it occurred to you to even go check makes me feel like we should totally hang out.

"[It] will actually pull your car up the hill backwards to about 20 mph thanks to the strong magnetic field. Very cool!"

As I stated in another post, Arkansas is a beautiful place to live. (Man, I should get paid Tourism Bureau money or something...) It has all the amenities (just for example, sometimes it feels like we hold the world record in annual music festivals), cost of living is so low that I'm always shocked to hear about

Why do you feel the need to turn it into a competition? I don't think the Earth cares which part of it 'wins'.

Arkansas' stats are most likely skewed by the fact that healthcare and other amenities are concentrated in the northwest area, where I happen to live. Plus we get fringe benefits from being near Walmart HQ, like an art museum and other public works. Certain cities have reputations for higher crime rates, but the vast

I definitely understand where you're coming from. I easily get bored and frustrated while exercising (except a martial arts fitness class I took — that was awesome). However, I'd like to point out that sometimes, the time sacrifice is so worth it.

Can we please not dogpile smj33 for having an (unpopular, possibly badly-worded) opinion? If you don't have something nice or helpful to say, please don't say anything.

When Euron's Crow's Eye wins the Kingmoot in Pyke, his brother Victarion loses

I've seen The Room 17 times and Birdemic 12 times. While I was initially shocked at their absence from this list, in retrospect they might not belong in the 'fiction classroom' format. Both movies are so wretchedly terrible that I'm not sure there's anything to learn from them. It's hard to pinpoint the flaws in

Seconded on skipping foundation. Other than spot concealer for blemishes and white NYX jumbo pencil as an eyeshadow base, I personally prefer to have as little as possible on my skin.

Several commenters have already pointed out the flaws in this line of thinking, and you come off as so close-minded that I don't think me reiterating their points will change your mind, so I'll just bow out now.

Edit: Just noticed (Kinja gonna Kinja!) that two other commenters already replied with pretty much the same points. I'll leave my comment as an agreement with theirs.)

Our roommate got this call and took down all the information he could; he was pretty certain it was a scam, but wanted to make sure, because their threats were frightening. It makes my blood boil that these wastes of skin would introduce stress into anyone's life, let alone rip hard-earned money out of honest

Another reminder that I'm the only person in the universe who starts to freak out when there are papers on the desk, icons on the desktop, emails sitting for weeks without being processed into next action or archival or trash . . . They're inboxes and they have to be zero.

Was just wondering yesterday if it'd be possible to get a screensaver of floating through a nebula, similar to the Puppis image above. Any computer animation majors up in here?
