having Sparks as a lead single was such a huge bait and switch. I wouldn't have minded if the rest was anywhere near as good, but instead it's Beach House doing Beach House in the blandest way possible. I like their last two albums, but I really don't understand the acclaim for what is a really lightweight band who's

great singles, but a meh album.

It was amusing throughout, but I think the religious satire subplot was pretty low-hanging fruit that's been done to death.

I thought it was great, though I was sort of annoyed that some plot points from Red Dragon were pilfered for earlier episodes and then reused (chronologically correct) for this episode.

definitely not Sonic Youth, but it sounded much more like the glut of NIN-imitators in the mid-90s.

speaking of Ride, "Nowhere" is technically part of the Fall EP, which was released about a month prior to Nowhere, but appended to all CD versions of the album.

the revised version fixes the tone discrepancy. I prefer the original, but the newer version does fit a bit better (and makes the Horn of Eld bit make a bit more sense.)

I think it had to do with how pop culture was constantly in flux and new trends could come completely out of nowhere; you had few avenues to divert your attention, so you kind of had to be aware of what's going on, even if it was just to register your disgust. Now it's easy to follow trends from their inception andit

It's very different tonally from the first

in the same vein as Deerhunter/Dear Hunter, albeit to a much less popular degree:

not to mention the books too.

to keep it Hannibal related, Firefly has nothing on Wonderfalls: episodes aired out of order, a timeslot change, and its lead in was a reality show about gay cowboys (I kid you not.)

He is the reason the show moved to Friday in season 2

I liked their first 2 albums at the time, but by the time their third album came out, I had pretty much moved on as it became obvious that they were becoming pretty formulaic. I don't really dislike the band, but they seem to attract some of the worst fans with some awfully out of touch opinions on music.

I wouldn't say they're probably racist, but they're at least ignorant. possibly both.

I don't consider myself a dog person (though I own one), but I think my problem with this episode was that it felt like the ending was written way before the rest of the episode and with all the responses it's since received it's desired outcome; it practically screamed "THE DOG DIED. DON'T YOU FEEL THEM FEELS?

the show been going downhill by then (and maybe it was because I was watching it less frequently and didn't see arguably worse episodes first), but I remember New Kids on the Blecch annoying the fuck out of me.

Broken and The Downward Spiral hold up well.. but man did PHM sound dated even by the mid-90s. Some good songs on there still, but at least half of it falls flat.

not to mention that The Hobbit movies are clearly the ones that need remaking/editing.

if we're lucky D:
