I could've sworn Thurston was in it too.

Episode: B
Season: B

I liked the episode, though I think it would've worked better if shown in conjunction with the previous episode.

Where the dead skunk bit was just gross, I thought the rat smashing was funny mostly because of how over the top it was.

I'm not really hung up on the continuity as much as I think the episode was just rather bad. It felt like a lot of random bullshit thrown together, which fairly par for the course this season.

Missing Jim Carrey.

I liked Chaos Theory, but not the others; the others fell under "good concept, meh execution." I can't quite put my finger on why, but I think the best description is that those episodes feel like the characters of Community are largely an afterthought and could be easily substituted with characters from other shows,

I thought it was pretty good, though not as good as I was hoping it would be. I always seem to like the idea of Community's concept episodes, but they're rarely ever among their best.

I keep thinking she's Kristen Schaal whenever I see her. Her character feels very much like it was written for Schaal.

I know they made sequels to Mother Simpson and Like Father, Like Clown about a decade ago, but it seems like the show mostly stayed away from the self-referential jokes (or at least made them part of a larger joke (i.e. references to Deep Space Homer and Homer meeting the Beatles in the Frank Grimes episode or

"Therefore, modern episodes should be judged against modern episodes without name-dropping superior past performances"

eh, I wouldn't rate it higher than a B-. I thought the episode was decent, but I don't think Dennis was particularly wrong. This whole season has been pretty subpar overall.

I like quite a bit of 90s music, but I don't really get 90s worship as it often implies that nothing as good has come out since. Though I like Nirvana, their presence now feels more like Playskool's "My first Indie band" for people not quite ready to make the plunge into seeking out the much better bands that

well then, that's even worse. That ending was awful.

you're thinking of Wild at Heart.

well, I guess that was my point: her story was mostly told in the series; FWWM basically just the story a bit more explicit. I think the messiness came more from the amount of material that was cut from the movie (though Lynch's films aren't alone in this as Blue Velvet had 2 hours(!) cut from it as well)

I hadn't heard that. I had heard that there were plans for more movies, but the idea was dropped when the movie bombed. In that light FWWM comes off as a bit less redundant, but still perhaps an overly difficult way of going about continuing the series.

season 4 was, though I think season 5 was a half order that the writers assumed would get a full season pick up, despite NBC being very vocal about S5 being the finale season almost from the moment it was announced. That would certainly explain the pretty underwhelming series finale.

eh, I think the biggest mistake with Fire Walk With Me is that everyone wanted a conclusion to the series but instead got a prequel whose plot was mostly covered in the main series. It also didn't help that it felt like a bit of a mess.
