uh, these are kids. Someone was just murdered on campus - there is having a stiff upper lip and there is understanding that these are kids and that they need to get away from this. They are not hardened military combat units.

I would have been a great callback to her X-men days if she was a Kree/Human Hybrid mutant and her X-gene powers activated via the Psyche-magnetron. It would actually make a bit of sense given her similar powers to Ultra Girl, ALSO a kree hybrid mutant from the old New Warriors.
