Another crazy one is Abner Louima. Violated with plunger by NYPD officers without even a pretend reason for it. And he did a lot of good with the money he got from surviving that horror & has actively participated in anti-police brutality rallies.
My brother, there isn’t enough space on the root server to contain all of the racially motivated murders and brutal killings of black men and women and trans people over the history of this nation.
No mention of the Newark riots either, or any of the riots from The Long Hot summer of ‘67.
This post would be ten internets long if he’d included everything. The Freedom Rider murders in Philadelphia, MS, Black Wall Street, the Exonerated Five, Amadou Diallo . . . and that is literally just off the top of my head from my sleep-addled brain. Not to mention all the lynchings from 1910ish onward.
I said this for the last 5 days. Riots are about the only thing that is effective. The people are frustrated because there is no peaceful venue to fix our system.
The gaslighting is blaming the people for the violence. If we are honest March 7, 1965 should be labeled as the Selma Police Riots, when law enforcement attempted to murder some people marching across a bridge, injuring a few dozen.
Thank you for bringing our attention to this science-based discovery. Research with various organisms have shown epigenetic inheritance exists. Now it’s up to humans to recognize the fact that we’re organisms not too different than the ones in these experiments. We’ve inherited generations of PTSD.
Like they fact they couldn’t even accept dealing during sports?
I’d say the most important omission was the ratification of the 13th Amendment, that outlaws the explicit ownership. of people unless they’ve been convicted of a crime (by an all-white jury, of course).
A complete history would take a few decades to read.
And now the same hypocritical crapstains who created this situation have the nerve to call for ‘peaceful protests’ after ridiculing, blacklisting, gaslighting, and ignoring *exactly* that for decades. Well, a-holes, you reap what you sow. You told the entire POC community that peaceful protests were a joke, so now you…
How about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre? White supremacists and the National Guard working together to destroy more than 35 square blocks of Black Wall Street, killing an estimated 200-300 black people and injuring countless more, just because they couldn't stand to see POC becoming more successful than white folks. I…
The saddest part is how many murdered Black people and uprisings didn’t even make this list.
WORD. You are illuminating the historical thinking concept of periodization. Where we choose to begin a narrative matters. Those who intentionally start the story with fire and attacks on the third precinct want to make invisible the narrative of how we got here. Their intention is to cast ALL protestors as lawless…
Michael wouldn’t be able to post the article in the next 100 years if he factored in all of the injustice. That said, he knows what he’s doing and I doubt very much he wasn’t thinking of those events he left out.
Yeah, that gap from 1965 to 1991 is very, very misleading, even if this is some of the events in a timeline. The Exonerated Five case needed to be noted because of the racism behind everything involved in it.
I read your post as ‘dude you didn’t even get the highlight reel complete’. To be fair, he would still be writing this tomorrow night if he covered all the significant racist US milestones.
You left out The Boston Busing riots of the 70's. The death and injury of two men in December of 1986 at Howard Beach NY at the hands of a mob of white teenagers. The Central Park Five’s bullshit conviction in 1989 and a certain Editorial by a fat, repulsive, sexual predator in The NY Times. The murder of Yusef…
