I had a C4 ZR1 and that thing was one baaaad motherfucker. It was kind of a (albeit well-maintained) rat with over 100K on the clock but it could hang with the some of the big boys with the cages and the onboard fire-suppression systems all day, then drive home with the A/C and the stereo on. And it fit a 6'5' guy

same reason 458 and F8 tributo have roadster / spider version

Operating distribution channels isn’t cheap or easy. I don’t think many OEM’s would really want to undertake that part of the process at this point. It is one thing to start without dealers, but to have them and then get rid of them?

To riff off an old quote, it is good that Cybertrucks have distinctive headlights so you can spot the idiots a long way off

What a weird time we are in:

Great, Tesla’s fully committing to jumping on the stupid LED Unibrow bandwagon.

Came here expecting a single headlight, wondering if it was gonna be the driver or passenger side, making it look like it was drunkenly winking at you and was sorely disappointed.

I said when they announced this thing that if they kept the price under $200k, it’d be an absolute home run.

Never expected them to get down to $175k (even if none will ever actually sell at that price).

Jesus.

I don’t need to know what’s in each trim package, I’ll be reading it off the detailed placard on the other side of the ‘do not touch’ rope at every cruise and Cars ‘n’ Coffee for the next few decades.

But...but...but.... Jorts! New Balance! Gold Chains!

For reference, the 1993 C4 ZR1 had a sticker of about 67k, which equals a little under 150k in today’s money. I don’t think it’s fair to say this is “too expensive for a Corvette” considering what it offers.

And further to that end, while the insane unit cost is partially because government, it’s also legitimately the cost required to engineer and build something that will make it 30 years *minimum* with daily abuse and minimal maintenance.

I’m ok with the same-sausage different-lengths philosophy many automakers have been using, and I don’t think Teslas (except the truck) are good or bad looking, they seem plain and inoffensive enough to me (for offensive design I think of the previous gen Prius).

That goes along with the other stupidity - making turn signal lights microscopic and co-locating them with the head lamps and then deciding the fix is to turn off the head lamp next to the signal so it looks like the car has a head lamp out when the car is waiting for a turn.

Great, now Tesla is hopping on the stupid LED Unibrow bandwagon too.

Here’s a handy pic showing the difference:

the new Model Y, code named “Juniper,” doing some cold weather testing.

Wow it looks... the same as it did before!

LOL  the new one taking design cues from the cybertruck. Look at that front. Ugh!

Model Y was always just all the worst proportions of the Model 3 exaggerated. Now it just looks like a Hyundai Kona with the scraps of charm completely buffed out.
