Its letter of the law vs spirit of the law.

It may be illegal due to regulations around lotteries. He’s being very limiting with who is eligible, which is usually against lottery laws.

I assume people that own $300k pleasure boats pay some pleb to move it around for them or keep it at a marina where they pay them to care for it.

Wait, so Tesla is late delivering something and it’s not going to work like they said it would? NO WAY.

My first thought too: Did they not think the vehicle would become heavier?

I wonder if they forgot to factor in the extra weight in their initial calculations.

So when are we just installing a generator in the bed?

$16k for 130 miles, or less, of range? That seems damn expensive.

I can’t wait for the tweets to Elno about it failing. I mean, are we sure it’s not going to just catch on fire in a drizzle or something? I bet there will be a caveat about only being able to install it and keep it covered at all times.

These aren’t deep cuts.  Just dealer incentives that won’t do crap for buyers.

It was written all over him when he was forced out of PayPal.

What a shit headline - here I was expecting Ford put $22,500 on the hood of each Lightning.

Well that headline isn’t misleading at all... /S

It still seems high, though. The big thing that sticks out to me is the range.

Right. I just spent dang near $50K on a VW Golf. It’s not a “people’s car.”

R2 could be an option, but thats still 2 years out at least and thats if Rivian lives long enough to get it out.

This is just such a weird end result for what the concept car promised. So many bizarre design choices that are clearly the result of some years-long tug of war between the designers, engineers, and accounting/marketing.

The 05 Phaeton W12 had an MSRP just south of 100 grand. The Arteon is 45-50k depending on spec. VW hasn’t limited themselves to budget cars in a long time. And frankly no VW is a “people’s car” anymore - the demand constant thorough maintenance beyond what most Japanese cars require, they eat oil like it’s canapes at

This is such a letdown. I was planning on putting a deposit on one of these once they were released - my wife is up for a new car, she specifically wants an EV, she likes minivans, loves the styling of this, and she owns an arts + crafts store which would look great with this parked out front with a two-tone scheme in

This vehicle is antithetical to VW.  There is no such thing as a $70k “people’s car”.  VW has always offered style at a premium but within their own models that uniquely styled vehicles have never been significantly more expensive than the platforms they were based on.  The new beetle certainly had unique styling and
