What percentage of Corvette Z06/Zr1, Blackwings, Porsches, Ferarris, Lambos, etc will ever go to the track?

What do you drive and what size is the battery?

Yeah. I sincerely doubt that anyone buying a Lyriq has track days in mind. The standard Lyriq is already really good. This exists for the same reason the Range Rover SVR does, to give people an opportunity to spend more money.

Wasn’t that the whole point of the “skateboard” EV platform? One basic starting point for every model?

Our challenge is that we don’t really know what we would replace it with at this point; the new GC offerings don’t quite appeal to us. My wife doesn’t want an EV to replace it, since it serves as our long haul family cruiser; and she also doesn’t want something smaller or bigger, or too luxurious. She’s particular

China’s battery tech is not 100% “homegrown”. https://www.npr.org/2022/08/03/1114964240/new-battery-technology-china-vanadium

You’re right that they didn’t steal it, we gave it to them:

We have a ‘20 WK2 GC 4x4 with the V8 and the local dealer has been hounding us to sell it back to them. Haha. I guess lots of people still want a Jeep with a V8. We don’t plan to get rid of it for a while, but who knows, maybe for the right offer we could be encouraged.

I think the Prius VS Prius Prime is an interesting discussion. As much as I like the idea of doing my commute in full EV mode, the cost differential means the standard Prius is actually the more cost-conscious option. I think an Equinox EV would be a better option than the Prius Prime for someone looking to do mostly

I mean, exciting products cost money. Ford sells a $100k+ Bronco and Raptor, and a $300k+ Mustang too. MSRP for a CT4 ($63k) is actually less than a Mustang Dark Horse ($65k).

I think it hurts less for people who are used to Android devices, since the new system was developed in partnership with Google; so it feels a lot more familiar to them. I’ve had a chance to get hands on with the new system and I will say it really isn’t bad. It’s much better than I thought it would be, so I will give

I can’t think of another lineup by GM, Stellantis, Honda or Toyota that come even close…

A bit confusing that the rankings aren’t in listed in a particular order. Also seems like fuel economy doesn’t necessarily correlate to the rankings.

The joys of poverty spec economy cars. I sometimes find myself browsing European listings for an old Peugeot 306 or an Alfa 147 that I can import. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.

No company is completely innocent (just look at all the banks accused of fraud or robbing their own customers). But these days I will settle for the companies whose CEOs aren’t making “awkward hand gestures” during public appearances.

Everybody thinks they are a superstar driver, until that 1980s turbo lag kicks in and the lack of modern traction control and electronics isn’t there to save you.

Yep. That’s definitely an ongoing trend. Quite a few Raptors, TRX, Ram Rebel, and Cybertrucks like that around me too. It seems like the more ostentatious the truck, the less likely the owner is to actually use it like a truck. Those were “gender affirming” lifestyle purchases, but don’t tell the owners that, they

I think a lot of people want “off road” capability in their truck or SUV, even if they don’t plan to ever use it that way. Ford is just reading the marketing tea leaves and pivoting towards what buyers want. Becoming the “Porsche of off-road” isn’t just about being recognized as “the best”, it’s also about chasing

The comparison to Porsche is certainly not for nothing; Porsche has some of the biggest profit margins in the industry.

Seems to be working for Maybach.
