Ok, but it’s still ugly.

The “Cyberbeast” had a launch price of $120k, it says that right there in the article. The current price on Tesla’s website for the “Cyberbeast” is $99,990.
People who reserved the Founders Series Roadster (1,000 units) had to put down the full $250k. $250 million interest free loan to Tesla.
When Tesla first offered the Foundation Series to reservation holders in 2023, the price was $120k. Here is a period Business Insider piece discussing the pricing:
You know, now you put it that way (minimalist Rolls Royce), I think that may be exactly what Jaguar was going for. Especially since that is the supposed target market they will be going after now. Jaguar made a car with very few Jaguar design cues, because they don’t want people to identify it as a Jaguar.
So Jaguar saw what Cadillac did with their large super expensive sedan and decided they would also do a sloping long roof?
Ehm…. No.
Cadillac has been teasing a big luxury coupe/convertible for some time now; but I’m afraid if they built one it would be like the Celestiq and cost a fortune.
I agree that a top trim Integra would be a better buy than a base model 2 series gran coupe. The BMW is 179” long (70” wide and 56” tall), which actually makes it slightly shorter than the Integra (186”). The Integra comes well equipped at that price point, whereas you still need to start checking options boxes for…
I already said the looks aren’t offensive; you seem to be really hung up on that particular aspect. My comment is about the value proposition of this model. Will somebody else think it’s a great value at $45k to be driving off in a new BMW 2 series? Sure, BMW is counting on it. But I think there are better options for…
The decision to move away from CarPlay/Android Auto was made in order for GM to capture user data that they can in turn monetize. When using CarPlay or Android Auto the data capture happens on the cellular device, and can be monetized by that company (Apple/Google). GM spent more money on developing their own system…
No, I’m willing to admit that driving a 5 series or a 7 series delivers a substantially different experience from an Accord or a Camry. But for this 2 series Gran Coupe the badge and the price tag are the only things that are “premium” about the experience. And a “better dealership experience” isn’t guaranteed when…
The looks aren’t offensive at all by modern BMW standards, but the pricing is in my opinion. For the same money there are much better cars. This starts at $40k for a bare bones FWD base model. At that price point just buy a top trim level Accord, Camry, or a Cadillac if you want RWD.
CPO is an even better deal on the Cadillacs, but even new they make for better sports sedans in my opinion than what BMW is putting out these days at that price point. For those doing a lot of highway driving both the CT4 and CT5 can now be had with GMs Super Cruise.
If I was in the market for a new 2 Series Gran Coupe, though, I would much rather buy a used 3 Series if I really needed four doors, or I’d buy a proper rear-wheel-drive 2 Series coupe.
I’m excited. People talk shit about GM badge engineering and cheap interior plastics, but they can put together a very good performance product when they put their minds to it.
Not yet. Not enough advanced notice for the 2025 season.
We are about to find out what the U.S. will look like when you allow the inmates to run the asylum. We got a little taste of it during the first Trump presidency, but nothing like what we are about to experience in the next few years. Buckle up America, because the billionaire class is done pretending and is about to…
Vlad must be holding FedEx in his portfolio.
It probably should have been. The famous AE86 was marketed as a Corolla, and if Toyota wasn’t going to call the GR86 a Corolla it might as well have been the Celica.
