I can’t even take this comment seriously… The 458 is “soulless”? It has “no character”?

Or the Russians drugged him, “reprogrammed” him, and then “set him free”.
I don’t think the 296 sounds “good”. It doesn’t sound like complete crap either, but it’s not what I would call “good”.
Better than a 355 or a 458 Italia?
I read that article at MT, and while I think it’s great that Lincoln is getting recognition for its “luxury first” approach (instead of trying to pump out yet another sporty “track ready” SUV), I think it is really important to point out that the car that took part of the testing was a top of the line Black Label with…
Exactly. It doesn’t really offer much, so it doesn’t cost Ford much to offer it. But it’s an easy marketing tool to say: “look at all the extras you get”.
Those are two body styles… where are the rest? Sedan? Wagon? Coupe? Convertible? Van?
The problem isn’t the V6, the problem is the turbochargers. None of Ferrari’s turbocharged engines sound better than their naturally aspirated counterparts. None. McLaren suffers from the same problem. At Porsche the turbocharged engines sound like shit compared to the naturally aspirated ones. Even BMW made better…
VW is invested in Rivian, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some parts sharing between Rivian and Scout in the near future.
Right there with you. I still browse for 06-11 Rangers (preferably with the 5 speed).
VW is partially invested in Rivian, so it’s not entirely surprising that they might have drawn some inspiration from them.
I can still remember when we were widely promised that the revolution of the EV “skateboard” platform would allow for increased diversity of body styles….
“100% grade” is a 45 degree slope.
For the Scout cars to be eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit, the batteries will have to be sourced and assembled in the U.S. I think the switchgear being VW isn’t terrible, as long as they really do stick with actual buttons and knobs. I’d be more worried about the software UI, which VW hasn’t done a fantastic…
Excellent point, and if the ID Buzz is any indication of what we can expect from Scout, then the pricing will be problematic too.
Competition from imports and economic pressures in the 1980s forced US domestic automakers to innovate and to focus on smaller more fuel efficient cars. There were major technological developments during that time. Congress acted to set limits on imports of cars during that time; which is what prompted some Japanese…
I think these are both compelling offerings, but I also think the real issue here is that they are still 3 years away from being on the market. For most buyers Scout might as well be a completely new and unknown brand.
It’s quite something… folks like to complain that sports cars are getting too expensive, but I would actually argue that it’s these types of cars that have really skyrocketed in price of late; and a lot of this is just profit margin for the automakers.
I also just noticed that this officially makes the Navigator a good bit more expensive than the Escalade (which starts at $88k).
Or… it’s smart for Ford to offer you a perk that they know you will basically never actually use; that way it costs them nothing in the end.
